    Site Validator

    Job role

    The Site Validator will be responsible for collecting and conducting thorough assessments of potential locations for our solar hub/shop projects in rural or remote communities. This role involves evaluating sites based on specific approval criteria and providing detailed reports to ensure the successful deployment of our company’s energy solutions. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of the challenges surrounding electrification in remote areas and the ability to assess physical, social, and technical factors that can impact the feasibility of solar installation and operations.

    Responsibilities:

    Site Assessment and Validation:

    • Work closely with the QA Expansion/Growth Lead to create a pool of potential sites/communities within the region/country that would fit well with the products and services offered by our company.
    • Gather information on any ongoing and upcoming electrification projects that may potentially affect our business operations in any respective community/state/region.
    • Conduct on-site visits to assess potential locations and collect data based on our set approval standards.
    • Identify suitable land or shop for our hub or shop installation, ensuring there is adequate space and structural suitability.

    Community Engagement:

    • Engage with local leaders, community members, and stakeholders to understand local needs, expectations, and potential support for our solar projects.
    • Facilitate discussions around the benefits of solar energy to ensure community buy-in.

    Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Collect and document site-specific data, including GPS coordinates, photographs, community demographics, and infrastructure details.
    • Generate detailed site validation reports, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of potential sites for solar installations.
    • Recommend potential improvements or considerations for sites that do not meet all criteria.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Sociology, Rural Sociology, Rural Development or any other relevant discipline
    • Minimum of 1- 2 years Experience in fieldwork or site evaluation
    • Knowledge of rural or remote community needs, especially regarding energy access challenges.
    • Ability to collect data and produce clear, concise reports.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with local communities and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of mapping tools, and data collection technologies.
    • Ability to work independently and travel frequently to remote locations.

    People (Star) Development

    Job role

    The People (Star) Development Coordinator is responsible for acquiring competent Jaza Stars (Sales agents) for the new sites. The SDC owns the entire process of recruitment, training and onboarding of new Jaza Stars for new sites identified in the expansion pipeline and ensures that the Jaza Stars recruited are competent and have the appropriate training to manage the hubs and accomplish company set goals.

    Accountability:

    • Manage the recruitment process (advertising, interviewing and hiring) of great Jaza Stars whose goals and ambitions align with the goals of the company in the new sites it expands to.
    • Own the process of training and evaluation of the selected Jaza Stars and ensure that the training materials are kept up to date. Ensuring that all onboarding procedures for recruited Jaza Stars are followed and all necessary documentations are filed accordingly.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring that open Jaza Star positions for new sites in Expansion are advertised extensively.
    • Monitoring the number of interested candidates during Jaza Stars recruitment and ensuring that it meets the set criteria for interviews and training to be conducted
    • Making sure that all necessary arrangements for interviewing and training process are made for each site in the expansion process
    • Conducting interviews, classroom training and on-site training for possible Jaza Star recruits 
    • Identifying possible areas of concentration for training for the Jaza Star recruits and recommend inputs to the training materials 
    • Ensuring that classroom and on-site training materials are kept up to date by flagging any additions or changes to be made by the QA Expansion Operations.
    • Ensuring that all onboarding action items for new recruits are followed and all necessary documentation is filled appropriately. This includes:
      • Ensure that the Jaza Stars are registered on the Dashboard and set their accounts on the Star App
      • Prepare and have them sign their contracts and upload them to the drive.
      • Upload the Jaza Star registry with the new recruits details. 

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in any related field.
    • Previous experience in roles where rural talent acquisition was done.
    • Ability to tap into local networks, leveraging community connections, and local job boards to find candidates.
    • Ability to position the company as an attractive local employer.
    • Ability to develop tailored recruitment strategies to attract candidates.
    • Experience in conducting in-person interviews.
    • Ability to assess candidates for both technical skills and cultural fit within the community-oriented nature of rural work environments.
    • Ability to manage the full recruitment cycle in a rural environment where resources may be more limited.
    • Effective planning and prioritization to ensure timely and efficient hiring processes, even with fewer candidates.
    • Strong problem-solving skills to handle challenges like long hiring timelines, and/or limited local candidate pools.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to establish trust within a close-knit community.
    • Familiarity with local languages or dialects can be a huge asset, especially in remote/rural areas.
    • Ability to work independently, interact with people of different backgrounds, cultures, languages and to travel frequently to remote locations.

    Construction Engineer

    Job role

    The Expansion Construction Engineer is the owner of the process of service location acquisition, renovations and installation in our expansion process into new sites. The Expansion Construction person  finds suitable service locations, negotiates, leases, procure equipment, renovates, installs, audits and signs off on those allocated sites according to our company’s predefined standards.

    • Assess approved sites and identify suitable services locations, shops / plots of land for leasing that meet our defined standards.
    • Manage the lease or acquisition of shops or plot of land that meet our service location criteria.
    • Assess the acquired service location and identify preparations or renovations requirements.
    • Manage the sourcing of appropriate furniture producing factories/contractors that meet the set criteria to produce Jaza furniture and install hubs across allocated sites.
    • Request, procure, take delivery and document required items, tools and equipment needed for the completion of the work.
    • Ensure availability of furniture across allocated regions/sites undergoing Expansion to ensure there are no delays in the set timelines.
    • Monitor renovations and construction needs and constantly reports need for tools, materials and equipment with reference to the set targets across allocated locations undergoing Expansion
    • Manage quality checklists and ensure that they are adhered to in the process of acquisition, renovation and construction.
    • Work effectively with engineers, supply chain, and other construction teams, ensuring seamless integration between different parts of the project.
    • Document and report milestones reached during this process.

    Qualifications

    • A relevant degree in construction management, civil engineering or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in similar role.
    • Understanding of the overall construction process, including shop or land negotiation, leasing and acquisition, renovation, site preparation, furnishing and foundation work, and structural assembly.
    • Ability to interpret blueprints and design specifications, especially for our customized hubs, ensuring they meet both the structural and electrical needs for solar installations.
    • Ability to think critically and come up with solutions for unique or complex construction challenges, particularly when working with already built shops.
    • Good data collection, analytical, and reporting skills.
    • Ability to commit to high level quality standards.
    • Clear communication skills to interact with suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts in simple terms.
    • Ability to work independently, interact with people of different backgrounds, cultures, languages and to travel frequently to remote locations.

    Solar Installation Engineer

    Job role

    The Solar Installation Engineer is the owner of the technical operations involved in the installation and maintenance at various sites. This position reports to the Regional Service Engineer and works to ensure that our service locations have commissioning and installation of solar technical equipment completed to the pre-defined standards.

    Accountabilities:

    • Own the technical installation and maintenance process for our service locations by ensuring 100% compliance with the commissioning process.
    • Own and manage all tech activities, equipment and tools used in the commissioning process for new sites.
    • Own and audit the work completion per allocated site according to defined standards.

     Responsibilities:

    • Prepare a predeparture checklist of required items, tools and technical equipment for the commissioning of allocated sites.
    • Commission, install and maintain solar technical equipment at allocated sites by ensuring that all set processes according to the commissioning guidelines and documentations are accurately done and completed.
    • Ensure proper set up of new sites in the Star App, Dashboard and Dataverse before handing the site over to the regional tech.
    • Accurately file, respond to, update, and escalate technical issues in Gitlab.
    • Remotely troubleshoot and resolve Hub performance issues pre-golive. Travel to Hubs to resolve issues requiring in-person troubleshooting/repairs, for sites still under Expansion. 
    • Ensure availability of working Jaza packs for Go-live by checking charge rate.
    • Ensure 100% connectivity at new sites and zero downtimes at all Hubs.
    • Keep accurate records of Hub/Shop Equipment and product component inventory during the commissioning phase.
    • Test new products and firmware as needed. 
    • Work effectively with regional tech, supply chain, and other construction teams, ensuring seamless integration between different parts of the project.
    • Document and report milestones reached during this process. 

    Qualifications

    • Background in Electrical/Electronics or any related field.
    • Deep knowledge of PV system design, installation and maintenance.
    • Knowledge in electrical installation.
    • Good data collection, analytical, reporting and communication skills.
    • Ability to commit to high level quality standards.
    • Ability to learn new technologies as required in the role.
    • Ability to work independently, interact with people of different backgrounds, cultures, languages and to travel frequently to remote locations.
