    Communications Manager

    Position Overview

    • The Communications Manager at Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF) is a vital role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's communication strategies to enhance its brand visibility, increase public awareness, and support fundraising efforts.
    • The Communications Manager will play a crucial role in driving the organization's message and impact, both internally and externally, to various stakeholders, partners, and the general public.

    Key Responsibilities

    Communication Strategy:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with AYGF's mission, vision, and goals.
    • Identify target audiences and tailor communication approaches to effectively reach and engage them.

    Content Creation:

    • Create compelling and engaging content for various communication channels, including press releases, articles, blogs, social media posts, newsletters, and website updates.
    • Collaborate with program teams to gather information on project achievements, success stories, and impact to showcase AYGF's work effectively.

    Media Relations:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage and increase the organization's media presence.
    • Coordinate press conferences, media interviews, and media visits to promote AYGF's initiatives.

    Digital and social media:

    • Manage the organization's social media platforms and develop strategies to grow the online community, drive engagement, and increase followership.
    • Monitor and analyze social media performance and implement adjustments for improved impact.

    Public Relations:

    • Develop and implement public relations campaigns to raise awareness about AYGF's activities, events, and achievements.
    • Respond to inquiries from the public, media, and partners in a timely and professional manner.

    Brand Management:

    • Ensure consistent branding across all communication materials and platforms to maintain a strong and recognizable AYGF brand identity for the on going projects.
    • Develop branding guidelines and ensure compliance across the organization.

    Internal Communications:

    • Facilitate effective internal communication by disseminating relevant information, updates, and organizational news to staff and stakeholders.
    • Organize staff workshops or training sessions to improve communication skills and promote a culture of effective communication within the organization.

    Fundraising Support:

    • Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop communication materials for donor outreach, grant applications, and fundraising campaigns.
    • Assist in crafting compelling stories to demonstrate the impact of AYGF's programs on beneficiaries.
    • Reporting; the Communications Manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the various program teams and fundraising department.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, BSc in Marketing or relevant field.
    • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in a communications role.
    • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (In Design/Photoshop).
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Good time management and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
    • Proven work experience as a social media manager with the NGO sector
    • Hands on experience in content management
    • Excellent copywriting skills
    • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
    • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
    • Knowledge of online marketing channels
    • Familiarity with web design
    • Excellent communication skills and Public Speaking skills
    • Analytical and multitasking skills
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of issues related to youth development, education, and sustainable development in Africa is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders.

    Program Manager

    Job Purpose

    • Oversees all aspects of an ongoing program, from its development to implementing program activities.
    • Ensures the program is completed to a consistently high standard, within budget, that objectives are met on time, suiting the company's image and objectives.
    • Makes sure the program meets professional standards and industry regulations.

    Job Duties

    • Establishes short and long-term program objectives and ensures team members meet them.
    • Develops regular budgets and schedules (usually annually) to support the program's implementation.
    • Develops funding plans to ensure the program's ongoing delivery and success.
    • Creates and implements guidelines for evaluating the program's strengths and areas where improvement is required.
    • Assigns tasks to team members to ensure project objectives are completed as required.
    • Communicates expectations to team members.
    • Counsels and disciplines team members who do not perform to expectations or who violate company policies.
    • Appraises team members' performances and offer feedback to employees and, when appropriate, to managers.
    • Resolves problems with the program as they arise.
    • Monitors programs progress and reports this in regular meetings with high-end managers and any stakeholders were funding the program.

    The Person

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • B.Sc / BA in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or its recognized equivalent with 8 years of relevant experience with international development programs.
    • Or M.Sc / MA Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Food Sciences, or its recognized equivalent with 3 - 7 years of relevant experience with international development programs.
    • Demonstrated success in multicultural environments is an advantage.

    Skills / Competencies:

    • Knowledge of health and development programming in a developing country.
    • Basic accounting and financial management skills.
    • Working knowledge of major donor policies (Global Fund) as well as international not- for-profit organizations.
    • Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding health-related issues.
    • Proven ability to coordinate a multi-sectorial development project.
    • Ability to organize systems to monitor administrative and implementation results.
    • Report to supervisor on variances and status on a regular basis.
    • Work independently with initiative to manage high-volume workflow.
    • Perform detail-oriented work with a high level of accuracy.
    • Interact with diplomacy and tact and follow up on requests in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Use a computer to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information.
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work as a team member.
    • Ability to plan and prioritize own work under tight deadlines, as well as to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.

    Resource Mobilization Manager

    Position Summary

    • The Resource Mobilization Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of AYGF’s overall organisational resource mobilization strategy.
    • S/he will ensure proper relationship building to cultivate and leverage an ever-stronger donor support base for AYGF across select bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, and corporate partners.
    • Working closely with other Program teams, s/he will lead the development and presentation of proposals to potential donors and partners, support teams on compliance to donor and AYGF requirements during project implementation, and coordinate stakeholder management across donors on an ongoing basis to maximize delivery of the strategic partnerships and shared mission. The position will be based in Abuja, Nigeria.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Resource mobilization strategy and systems development
    • Developing and maintaining a current understanding of AYGF’s programs.
    • Anchoring on AYGF’s institutional resource mobilization strategy, assist in the design, implementation and coordination of an institution-wide, comprehensive donor relations and stewardship system that fosters positive and mutually rewarding relations between AYGF and its donors.
    • Contribute to and review AYGF’s strategy documents and knowledge management
    • products to help best position the institution for resource mobilization.
    • Donor cultivation
    • Under the guidance of the Human Resource unit, take initiatives to expand AYGF’s current donor base, through effective stewardship and new funding opportunities as may be developed to grow donor support for AYGF
    • Working with other Resource Mobilization Officers, develop concept notes, proposals and budgets which drive the achievement of AYGF’s strategic plan and align with both AYGF and donor priorities.
    • Prospecting bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, and private sector partners and translating partnership opportunity into both funds and leverage in furtherance of program and resource targets.
    • Provide other support as required in the implementation of the Resource Mobilization Strategy.
    • Donor management
    • Establish and maintain strong relations with a portfolio of donors as a foundation for resource mobilization efforts. Includes gathering intelligence and analyzing key trends in individual donor policies and plans vis-à-vis AYGF;
    • Organize briefings, meetings, visits and events with current and prospective donors, coordinate programmatic and logistical arrangements, draft reports and set action plans for follow-up;
    • Respond to internal and prepare response to external queries regarding donor contributions;
    • Support teams to ensure compliance on donor and AYGF requirements, including ensuring timely and quality reporting
    • Leadership support and external engagement
    • Have regular communication with donors, prospective and established, while working closely with AYGF’s Communication Unit to coordinate inputs to external events and opportunities
    • Support the Chief of party in identifying representational events with the potential for meaningful donor interaction. Provide proactive and timely advice to senior management on strategic interaction with individual donors.
    • Represent AYGF at external forums and meetings on occasion to position the institution with donors and partners critical to achieving AYGF’s strategy.

    Key Qualifications and Experience required

    • Master's Degree in International Development, Public Finance, Public Administration, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or any other relevant field;
    • High level experience of at least 7 years in international development with demonstrable
    • success in resource mobilization for local or international organizations;
    • Ability to work with donors as well as manage and build strategic donor relations; sound understanding of the donor financing landscape and processes;
    • Ability to work on performance-based targets for fundraising;
    • Fluency in English; Knowledge of French will be an advantage;
    • Results-oriented, accountable, proactive and able to work on behalf of AYGF with a wide range of stakeholders;
    • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams;

    National Project Coordinator (NPC)

    Position Overview

    • The National Project Coordinator at Africa Youth Growth Foundation will play a pivotal role in coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating all projects undertaken by the organization both the national and state offices.
    • This individual will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of projects, meeting project goals and objectives, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements, Organization operations and standards.
    • The National Project Coordinator will also serve as a technical advisor, providing expertise and guidance to project teams and other stakeholders to enhance project effectiveness and impact.

    Responsibilities

    Project Planning and Implementation:

    • Lead the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with project teams and relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure the timely and efficient implementation of projects, adhering to project milestones and deliverables in both the nationals and state offices.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project progress and outcomes effectively.
    • Conduct regular project monitoring visits, collect data, and analyze results to identify areas for improvement and impact assessment.

    Technical Guidance and Support:

    • Serve as a technical expert and advisor to project teams, providing guidance on best practices, methodologies, and innovative approaches.
    • Support project teams in overcoming challenges and ensuring the quality and relevance of project interventions.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with project partners, donors, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and discuss collaboration opportunities.

    Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare and submit comprehensive and timely project reports to donors, management, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project files, databases, and records.

    Capacity Building:

    • Identify capacity-building needs of project staff and partners and design training initiatives to enhance their skills and knowledge.

    Budget Management:

    • Monitor project budgets, review financial reports, and ensure financial resources are utilized efficiently and transparently.

    Risk Management:

    • Identify project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential negative impacts on project outcomes.

    Resource Management:

    • Optimize the allocation and utilization of resources (financial, human, and material) across projects. Identify resource gaps and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address them effectively.

    Reporting line:

    • The incumbent will report directly to the Executive Director and will supervise the project delivery team.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences).
    • Proven experience (at least 10 years) in Project Coordination and Management, preferably within the non-profit sector or development organizations.
    • Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
    • Proposal/grant writing and resource mobilization, he/she must have knowledge of donors and partners in the development sector
    • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation, including data collection and analysis.
    • Technical expertise in one or more areas related to AYGF's project focus (Education, Migration, Public Health, Livelihood and Climate Change and Environment)
    • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and support project teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of issues related to youth development, education, and sustainable development in Africa is desirable.
