    Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Coordinator

    Role Overview

    • The GESI Coordinator will lead and support the integration of gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) across all aspects of the RISE project. The Coordinator will ensure that interventions are inclusive, and sensitive to the unique challenges and opportunities of women, youth, and marginalized groups while transforming systemic barriers in the agri-food system. The role will involve working closely with project teams, implementing partners, and stakeholders to design and deliver strategies that empower women and youth and advance GAC’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

    Key Responsibilities

    Gender Strategy and Mainstreaming

    • Lead the review and implementation of the project gender strategy aligned with the RISE program’s objectives and donor priorities.
    • Provide technical support to ensure that gender equality and women’s economic empowerment are mainstreamed in all project activities, including value chain development, enterprise support, and capacity building.
    • Work with the Project staff, develop activities as part of the annual work planning process under the project's program areas that address gender and youth issues while ensuring that all work plan activities are youth-inclusive and gender-sensitive or transformative
    • Integrate GESI considerations into policies, guidelines, and tools used by staff and partners.

    Capacity Strengthening and Inclusion

    • Conduct gender analysis and stakeholder assessments to inform project design and implementation.
    • Organize and facilitate training and awareness-raising sessions on gender equality, safeguarding, and inclusion for project staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
    • Strengthen the capacity of cooperatives, women's groups, and youth associations to promote inclusive leadership and participation in agribusiness and decision-making processes.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

    • Collaborate with the MEL team to define gender-sensitive indicators and ensure systematic collection and analysis of sex- and age-disaggregated data.
    • Work closely with the GESI lead to carryout gender analysis to inform project adjustment and implementation.
    • Track, evaluate, and report on the gender outcomes of project activities and ensure findings inform program adaptation.
    • Document best practices, success stories, and lessons learned in gender integration.

    Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Engage and build partnerships with women’s rights organizations, gender focal institutions, government agencies, and private sector actors.
    • Promote meaningful participation of women and youth in project planning, delivery, and feedback mechanisms.
    • Represent the project in relevant gender networks, forums, and advocacy initiatives.

    Knowledge Management and Thought Leadership

    • Contribute to technical reports, and donor deliverables that highlight gender results and innovations.
    • Promote the adoption of gender-transformative practices across the RISE consortium and ecosystem.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and frameworks in gender and inclusion within the agri-food and development sectors.
    • Support the development of key knowledge products (e.g., case studies, lessons-learned documents, etc.) that facilitate program development, program implementation, internal knowledge sharing, and support the behavioral change required to achieve the program’s key performance indicators (KPIs).

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Development Studies, Agriculture, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gender-focused roles in development programs, preferably within agriculture, food systems, or enterprise development.
    • Strong knowledge of gender-transformative programming, gender analysis methodologies, and inclusion frameworks.
    • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training, stakeholder engagement, and GESI-responsive programming.
    • Familiarity with GAC’s Feminist International Assistance Policy and gender equality requirements is highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa or other local languages is an asset.
    • Willingness to travel to project sites across Bauchi, Kaduna, and Kano.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant

    Scope of Work

    The consultant will be expected to:

    • Develop a detailed work plan and M&E framework for the assessment, including methodology and data collection tools.
    • Conduct semi-structured interviews with PMO staff, project coordinators, Advisory Council members, and the SSAP-AgPE to gather qualitative insights.
    • Review and assess PMO processes, project tools, SOPs, dashboards, coordination structures, and governance mechanisms.
    • Evaluate the PMO’s engagement success with key ecosystem actors and identify any gaps in capabilities or resources.
    • Assess the integration of gender, inclusion, and data-driven decision-making in project management practices.
    • Provide recommendations to optimize PMO operations, structure, and sustainability strategy.

    Key Deliverables

    • Inception report detailing methodology and tools for assessment (within 1 week of contract start.
    • Final consolidated report and learning brief summarizing findings, lessons learned, and recommendations.

    Artificial Insemination Officer

    Job Summary:

    • The Artificial Insemination Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring artificial insemination activities across project implementation states to ensure success and support the ALDDN farmer cooperatives and other selected integrated farms participating in the artificial insemination intervention.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Artificial Insemination Planning and Implementation:

    • Assist in identifying and evaluating prospective AI farmers/Integrated farms to ensure adherence to selection criteria across the participating state(s).
    • Support the artificial insemination lead in the sensitization of the farmers/integrated farms on artificial insemination intervention.
    • Conduct field supervision and oversight functions at every stage of AI intervention.
    • Support in the procurement of A.I inputs such as hormones, semen, liquid nitrogen and other A.I inputs.
    • Support pregnancy diagnosis of artificially inseminated cows
    • Oversee the artificially inseminated cows to ensure pregnancy retention and high calving rate.
    • Support training and capacity building of Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs) and participating farmers.
    • Periodic field/farm visits to promote knowledge sharing, which will eventually enhance the skills of participating farmers in the management of the artificially inseminated cows and the calves that will be calved.
    • Any other activity as requested by your direct line supervisor.

    Training and Capacity Building:

    • Train participating farmers on good husbandry practices and facilitate the training of trainer sessions for Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs) on critical topics such as synchronisation, insemination, semen handling, business development etc.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

    • Monitor the progress of activity implementation at the field level.
    • Collect timely data on the number of cows inseminated, cow ID/Tag No, the insemination dates, expected calving dates etc.
    • Prepare periodic field reports and participate in review meetings.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Facilitate input supply (semen, hormones, liquid nitrogen)
    • Engagement with the artificial insemination service providers.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or related field (a diploma with strong field experience may be considered).
    • Minimum of 2 years of field experience in artificial insemination implementation, livestock extension services, or rural agriculture programs.
    • Familiarity with the agricultural landscape and pastoral systems in Northern Nigeria.
    • Experience working with rural communities and smallholder farmers.
    • Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Hausa, Fulfulde) is a strong advantage.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong practical knowledge of artificial insemination implementation and proven record of successful AI program.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently in rural environments.
    • Basic data collection and reporting skills (Excel, mobile survey tools, etc.).
    • Commitment to improving rural livelihoods and livestock resilience.
