    CP Caseworker

    Purpose of the Role

    • The Caseworkers will provide direct, individualised support to children with specific protection needs — including unaccompanied and separated children (UASC), children formerly associated with armed groups or forces (CAAFG), and other vulnerable children — through structured case management, family tracing, reunification support and referral services in Ngala and Kaga LGAs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify, register and document children with specific protection needs in assigned areas, including UASC, CAAFG and children at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence.
    • Conduct individual needs assessments and develop child-centred case plans in line with CP case management standards.
    • Provide structured case management services, including individual counseling, psychosocial support, referrals, and follow-up for a caseload of assigned children.
    • Support family tracing and reunification (FTR) processes for UASC, including documentation, tracing activities, best interest assessments, and interim care arrangement coordination.
    • Support identification, case management, and reintegration pathways for CAAFG, including prevention of re-recruitment.
    • Deliver targeted protective information to children on physical dangers, safe behaviours and available services.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files and records in the CP case management database, disaggregated by sex, age, and disability.
    • Participate in case conferences, supervision sessions, and inter-agency coordination meetings.
    • Report immediately any cases of serious harm, abuse, or child rights violations to the CP Officer.
    • Contribute to monthly data collection, case statistics, and narrative reports.
    • Comply fully with PSEA, child safeguarding, and confidentiality protocols at all times.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Development or a related field.
    • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience in child protection case management, social work or a related field.
    • Knowledge of case management principles, FTR procedures, and child protection standards in humanitarian contexts.
    • Strong interpersonal, counseling, and documentation skills.
    • Empathetic, child-friendly approach with demonstrated ability to work sensitively with vulnerable children and families.
    • Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri required; working knowledge of English is essential.
