    Key Responsibilities

    Quality Assurance & Food Safety

    • ​Implement, maintain, and audit local and international food safety systems, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices).
    • ​Conduct daily laboratory and inline sensory, physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses on raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products.
    • ​Monitor environmental hygiene across processing floors to ensure full compliance with NAFDAC Guidelines for Food Hygienic Practices.
    • ​Oversee batch release documentation, traceability logs, and direct corrective actions for non-conformance incidents.

    New Product Development (NPD) & Process Optimization

    • ​Collaborate with the commercial and marketing teams to formulate, prototype, and scale up innovative food products tailored to West African palates.
    • ​Conduct shelf-life testing, stability studies, and packaging integrity evaluations under varying climate and storage conditions.
    • ​Identify process bottlenecks and implement cost-optimization and yield-improvement measures without compromising food quality or safety.

    Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

    • ​Prepare technical dossiers, product specifications, and documentation required for product registration and renewals with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
    • ​Ensure all food labels strictly adhere to NAFDAC Pre-Packaged Food Labeling regulations and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) guidelines.
    • ​Prepare the facility for routine audits from NAFDAC, SON, and local environmental health officers.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    Education & Certification

    • ​Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc. / B.Tech.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
    • ​Active registration with the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) or professional licensing with NiCFoST (Certified Food Scientist of Nigeria - CFSN), Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) is highly preferred.

    Experience & Skills

    • ​Minimum of 2 to 10 years of hands-on experience in a food manufacturing, FMCG, or packaging facility in Nigeria.
    • ​Strong understanding of NAFDAC requirements, SON standards, and Nigerian factory sanitation acts.
    • ​Practical experience in setting up and managing HACCP flows and laboratory analysis equipment (e.g., pH meters, refractometers, spectrophotometers).
    • ​High proficiency in data collection and report writing using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • ​Exceptional sensory acuity and attention to detail.
    • Strong understanding of food preservation techniques, especially dehydration

    • ​Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and train factory-floor food handlers on personal and environmental hygiene.
