    Psycho Social Support (PSS) Worker

    General Objective

    • Under the supervision of the Deputy MHPSS Advisor, the psycho-social worker will perform all MHPSS activities in the field, including case management and referral to other services.
    • Besides this, S/He will fill data records, and perform data entry on a weekly basis.
    • S/He will take part in weekly office meetings, attend formal training, on job training, and provide weekly case presentations.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    Implementation of the PSS Activities:

    • Provide psycho-social support, and psychological first aid to survivors who have experienced psychological trauma, torture, gender-based violence GBV, domestic violence, and when necessary to survivors of natural disasters
    • Work in collaboration with PHCC and outpost staff to receive referred beneficiaries, ensure follow-up of referred PSS/ PFA beneficiaries, and provide guidance to health facility staff on PSS
    • Provide screening and assessment on psychological trauma
    • Sensitize, psycho-educate, problem solve, dialogue and mediate with the beneficiaries population about issues of war, torture, trauma, violence and GBV
    • Ensure all work with clients is confidential and that ethical practices are observed in a culturally appropriate way, especially with respect to gender sensitivities
    • Perform community awareness on trauma and psychosocial support to beneficiaries and community leaders
    • Refer patients when needed to more specialized services in link with the deputy MHPSS advisor
    • Perform case follow-up and case management when there is need
    • Develop action plan for the follow-up patients
    • Engage in self-care through supervision, debriefings, and other shared sessions

    Communication and Reporting:

    • Become proficient with the MHPSS data collection tools, conduct, and submit screening and assessment reports in a timely and accurate manner
    • Fill in all reporting and data collection forms in daily basis to ensure quality reporting
    • Weekly data entry of collected information from the field
    • Attend the weekly MHPSS supervision/ on job training meeting
    • Attend all MHPSS/PFA-related trainings given by PUI
    • Assist with any other related activities as deemed necessary by the MHPSS advisor

    Qualifications and Required Skills

    Mandatory requirements:

    Language skills: Fluent in English and Hausa and Kanuri is a strong asset

    • Education degree: Degree/Diploma in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Nursing or other related fields
    • Work experience: Experience of 1 year in working as a psycho-social worker, or psycho-social counselor, or community social worker

    Knowledge and skills

    • Knowledge of local areas and community structures
    • Able to maintain confidentiality
    • Knowledge of medical ethics

    Computer skills:

    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook

    Other: Good reporting skills

    Grant & Communication Intern

    General Objective / Summary

     

    The will assist the Grants Officer with all communication-related activities, focusing on both internal visibility initiatives for PUI and the visibility requirements PUI has committed to with donors.

    This role will involve supporting the Grants Officer in monitoring and creating content that aligns with these commitments across all ongoing PUI projects.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Reviewing success stories and testimonials that highlight the impact of PUI's work.
    • Creating brief graphic content for various communication platforms.
    • Managing the publication of content on social media channels.
    • Closely monitoring all current communication topics within the department.
    • Collaborating directly with relevant focal points at field offices and departments within the coordination team.
    • Any other tasks related to Communication requirements.
    • Monitor and reply to communications on the platforms under the guidance of the Grant Officer.
    • Post information, upload, and archive photos and videos on the relevant platforms daily or as directed by the Grant Officer.
    • Support the Grant Officer in the creation of new communication tools, development, and animation of social networks, creation of a quarterly newsletter format, realization of the annual activity report, support to the field teams in the realization of success stories
    • Attend occasional field visits, program, and staff meetings to gather story ideas.
    • Collect communication inputs from field and coordination teams to feed deliverables including photographs of events and activities that showcase PUI work.
    • Ensure the proper flow of information between the field teams and the coordination team by sharing communication products as relevant.
    • The Grants and Communications Intern will be expected to understand and follow the ongoing projects of the Nigeria mission to effectively monitor communication actions that have been undertaken or remain to be completed, in line with PUI's commitments to its projects.

    Qualifications and Required Skills

    Mandatory requirements:

    Language skills: Fluency in English and Hausa is mandatory; good knowledge of Kanuri is an asset.

    Education Qualification:

    • A First Degree in Communication, Digital Marketing, or any relevant field is essential

    Work experience:

    • Experience working in a team, experience in an association and/or international environment appreciated

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Good knowledge of communication tools, social media (Facebook)
    • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, etc.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills for a wide range of internal and external audiences.
    • Proactive and energetic outlook with an understanding of fast-paced environments
    • Knowledge of web content management systems; knowledge of user experience, search engine optimization, and website best practices
    • Knowledge of basic graphic design, video editing, and photography

    Assets:

    Interests: Working in humanitarian relief

    • Knowledge of PUI programming in Nigeria will be an added advantage.
