    Field Operations Officer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking to hire a field operator with experience in data collection and working with smallholder farming communities.
    • The position provides an opportunity to develop business and field operations skills and exposure to development experts.

    Responsibilities
    Responsibilities may include:

    • Community engagement, development and management; farmer outreach; data collection, entry and processing; conducting focus group discussions; implementing data collection systems and processes; training;field performance analysis; writing reports; supporting other team members and departments based on the needs of the organisation.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Junior Field Supervisor

    Role Summary

    • Cam is looking for a number of Junior Field Supervisors who will support their assigned Senior Field Supervisors and work with other Junior Field Supervisors to ensure that all field activities are carried out seamlessly and efficiently. Field Supervisors manage all field‐facing communication and operations of the Câm dairy programme, including overseeing all required content, tools and goals.
    • The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of executing field operations strategies, managing the generation and conversion of new leads to pastoralist and Câm Ranger (milk collector) partnerships, and effectively overseeing the execution of daily activities of collecting and aggregating high-quality raw milk that meets set standards and volume targets. Building and management of new and existing relationships with Câm Rangers and related pastoralists is a key part of the role.
    • The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, people relations skills and a willingness to learn. The candidate has to be open to trying new ways of doing things by continuously adhering to ever-changing trends in technology that will aid in getting the best possible results to set organisational goals.
    • Junior Field Supervisors will report to their designated Senior Field Supervisor.

    Responsibilities
    Daily Operations:

    • Supporting daily milk aggregation and ensuring the milk is chilled and delivered to the factory in a timely manner
    • Supporting the integration of new technology into the daily work of the Câm Rangers to increase their capacity to manage new and recurring needs

    Managing Cam Rangers:

    • Managing and building a team of Câm Rangers (independent contractors collecting and delivering milk to Câm’s milk aggregation centres)
    • Responsibility for training, building skills and competencies among Câm Rangers
    • Monitoring and tracking KPIs to ensure the Câm Rangers are meeting targets
    • Organizing weekly field-based meetings for the Câm Rangers, writing meeting reports and building team unity

    Pastoralists Outreach and Engagement:

    • Support in the execution of expansion strategies, exploring programme fit in new areas, while engaging local leaders, pastoralists and potential Câm Rangers alike to partner with us
    • Responsibility for coordinating (ongoing) training of pastoralists affiliated to their Câm Rangers, and of the Câm Rangers themselves
    • Community engagement and pastoralist outreach

    Requirements
    The candidate must have the following:

    • A Diploma or Degree in any related field with at least 1 year of work experience
    • A passion for food and agriculture with an alignment to the Company’s Mission and Vision
    • The ability to execute strategies and deliver on the set results for field operations
    • The candidate must be comfortable travelling as part of their day to day activities
    • Great verbal, written communication skills and negotiating skills
    • Ability to use G-suite and MS Office with excellent basic MS Excel skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to analyse and report field operations data accurately
    • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
    • Ability to build and manage relationships
    • Integrity and accountability
    • Creative problem-solving skills
    • Experience using data and KPIs to monitor performance
    • Should reside in Gwagwalada or Kuje, or be willing to relocate to these locations for better reach and efficiency
    • Experience working with smallholder farmers and/or agricultural environments or field-based roles in northern Nigeria is a plus

    Animal Health and Community Engagement Supervisor

    Job Description

    • Cam is looking for a Veterinary Scientist passionate about animal welfare and community empowerment to join our team as a Community Engagement and Animal Health Specialist.
    • In this pivotal role, you'll enhance animal health standards and educate pastoralists on best practices in animal husbandry.
    • Working closely with the Senior Field Supervisor and Field Operations Lead, you'll support Rangers to ensure seamless and efficient field activities.
    • The ideal candidate will provide input in the development of field operations strategies and execute these strategies, manage the generation and conversion of new leads to pastoralists partnerships and effectively oversee the execution of daily activities of community engagement, training and promoting the supply of high-quality materials that meet set standards and volume targets.
    • Relationship building and management of new and existing communities and pastoralists are key part of the role.
    • The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, people relations skills and a willingness to learn attitude.
    • The candidate has to be open to trying new ways of doing things by continuously adhering to the ever-changing trends in technology in protecting livestock and getting the best possible results that will enable the organisation to reach its goals.
    • As the Junior Supervisor, you will report to the Animal Health and Community Engagement Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Engage with communities through outreach programs to educate pastoralists on animal health, hygiene, and safety.
    • Provide on-field training to pastoralists on milk hygiene and safety protocols, including proper handling and storage methods.
    • Coordinate mass vaccination campaigns alongside Community-based Animal Health Workers (CAHWs) to curb the spread of diseases among livestock.
    • Offer guidance on feed and fodder production techniques to ensure optimal nutrition for livestock.
    • Manage relationships with suppliers of feed, drugs, vaccines, and other essentials to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
    • Perform artificial insemination procedures to enhance breeding programs and genetic diversity among livestock.
    • Conduct field diagnosis and treatment of animals, administering medication and caring for sick or injured animals.
    • Implement disease prevention measures and extension services to minimize outbreaks and improve overall animal health outcomes.

    Requirements
    The candidate must have the following:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine / Animal Science, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in community engagement or extension services are advantageous.
    • At least 3 years of experience in veterinary science or animal health-related fieldwork, with a focus on community engagement and livestock management.
    • Thorough understanding of animal health, nutrition, and husbandry practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective community engagement and training.
    • Proficient in conducting mass vaccination campaigns and devising disease prevention strategies.
    • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors and stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
    • Experience in artificial insemination techniques and reproductive management in livestock.
    • Competent in diagnosing and treating common livestock diseases.
    • Adaptability and problem-solving abilities to address challenges in the field.
    • Patience, humility and empathy when working with farmers
    • Fluency in English, Hausa (and Fulfulde Language is an added advantage)
