JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze financial statements and ratios to assess borrower\'s financial health
• Evaluate lending risks and identify cost reduction opportunities
• Collaborate with clients and loan officers on credit decisions
• Prepare loan applications and develop risk mitigation strategies
• Recommend credit limits for new customers
• Verify authenticity of provided documents
• Ensure loan proposals comply with bank credit policy
• Recommend adjustments to credit policies based on market trends

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor\'s degree or HND holder
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a financial institution
• MCP is an added advantage
• Proficiency in MS Office and Core Banking software applications
• Ability to navigate compliance issues
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of Credit and portfolio management
• Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
• Risk assessment expertise
• Great communication and negotiation skills

Job Summary:

We are seeking a diligent, analytical, and result-oriented Internal Control Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must have a solid accounting background, a keen eye for detail, and proven experience working within a microfinance bank environment. This role ensures adherence to internal policies, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across all departments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct periodic reviews and spot checks on branch and departmental activities to ensure adherence to internal policies and regulatory guidelines (CBN, NDIC, AML/CFT).
• Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control systems and recommend improvements.
• Review and verify all financial and operational transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Carry out investigations on irregularities, discrepancies, or suspected fraud and provide detailed reports.
• Monitor staff adherence to laid-down procedures and ethical standards.
• Participate in risk assessments and ensure prompt reporting of control weaknesses.
• Prepare internal control reports and follow up on audit exceptions to ensure timely resolution.
• Support management in the design and implementation of new control policies.
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory examiners as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, or ICAN in view is an advantage).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in internal control, audit, or compliance within a microfinance bank.
• Strong understanding of microfinance operations, banking regulations, and risk management practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• A male candidate is preferred for this role for gender balance.
