  • Head of Department - Quality Assurance Arts & Humanities

EES Tech Limited is a new Nigerian education technology company building a high-quality, curriculum-aligned video learning platform for secondary school students (JSS1–SS3). Our content is designed around the WAEC, NECO, BECE and NERDC frameworks, and is built to give Nigerian students an affordable, engaging way to prepare for their exams and master their subjects — wherever they are.
We are at the most exciting stage: building our first cohort of teachers, content reviewers and academic leaders to bring the platform to launch. We're looking for an experienced arts and humanities educator to lead quality and academic integrity across our humanities content from day one.

    The Role

As Head of Department, Arts & Humanities, you will be the academic leader for all non-science content produced by EES — from script approval through to final video review and publication.

    Subjects under your oversight include:

    • English Language and Literature-in-English
    • Government, History and Civic Education
    • Economics and Commerce
    • Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS)
    • Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and other indigenous languages where applicable
    • Geography (humanities aspects)

    What You'll Do

Recruit and onboard your subject teachers

    • Identify, assess and recommend qualified arts and humanities teachers for engagement by the Project Manager
    • Conduct academic screening — subject mastery, on-camera communication style, curriculum familiarity
    • Onboard recruited teachers onto our content framework — lesson structure, delivery style, filming protocols

    Set the academic standard

    • Define and document the content standards framework for all arts and humanities subjects across JSS1–SS3, aligned to WAEC/NECO/BECE/NERDC
    • Approve every teacher's lesson script and outline before filming begins — never after
    • Ensure scope, sequencing and depth are appropriate across the full library

    Review and approve every lesson

    • Review filmed lessons before they enter post-production, with clear, structured written feedback
    • Assess each lesson for factual accuracy, curriculum coverage, instructional clarity and pacing for secondary students
    • Conduct a final review of edited lessons before they go live on the platform
    • Maintain a QA log tracking every lesson's status through the pipeline

    Supervise, coach and report

    • Provide constructive academic supervision and feedback to your teachers throughout production
    • Escalate persistent quality issues to the Project Manager early and with documentation
    • Provide a weekly written status update on content review progress
    • Collaborate with the Science HOD to maintain consistent quality across the full content library

This is more than reviewing content. You'll be shaping the academic voice of a platform thousands of Nigerian students will rely on. We need someone who cares deeply about clarity, accuracy and the dignity of how we teach.

    Who We're Looking For

    Essential

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in an arts or humanities discipline — English, Literature, History, Government, Economics, Religious Studies, Linguistics, Languages, or a related field
    • Minimum 3 years of secondary school teaching experience, with direct exposure to JSS1–SS3 and BECE/WAEC/NECO examination preparation
    • Strong working knowledge of the Nigerian National Curriculum (NERDC) and the junior and senior secondary syllabuses for humanities subjects, including BECE, WAEC and NECO frameworks
    •  Prior experience reviewing, supervising or providing structured feedback to other teachers or content creators
    • Excellent written communication — your feedback must be clear, specific and actionable
    • Ability to manage multiple review streams in parallel without creating bottlenecks

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with video-based or digital educational content
    • Curriculum development, textbook authorship, or past-question design experience
    • Previous involvement in edtech, e-learning or digital content production
    • Service as a BECE, WAEC or NECO external examiner or marking panel member
    • Strong familiarity with at least one Nigerian language curriculum

    What We Offer

    • Monthly retainer ₦200,000 – ₦500,000 (commensurate with experience)
    • Engagement type 6-month renewable retainer (potential extension into Phase 2)
    • Location Lagos, Nigeria — onsite preferred, hybrid considered
    • Start date 1 July 2026
    • Reports to Co-Founders, EES Tech Limited
    • Mode Hands-on academic leadership in a fast-moving early-stage company

Early applications are encouraged. We will be reviewing on a rolling basis and may close the role earlier if a suitable candidate is identified.
