    Project Intern

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Program Monitoring & Evaluation

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Support in coordinating and arranging all logistics for various meetings, and workshops, including invitations, venue, participants' travel, and accommodation;
    • In collaboration with the project manager and the state project coordinator, facilitate the creation and implementation of a detailed annual work plan, which identifies sequences of activities needed to successfully implement the project and ensure project objectives are met;
    • In collaboration with key stakeholders, support the development and roll-out of detailed implementation plans in communities and LGAs;
    • Support in documenting project activities and ensure that all project data is appropriately secured in collaboration with the DMEL team;
    • Support in monitoring the progress of the project implementation and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the project remains on track and is successfully implemented;
    • Support in establishing a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the project's progress.
    • In collaboration with DMEL Coordinator, assist with the implementation and development of Monitoring and Evaluation tools where necessary;
    • Produce activity and monthly reports. 
    • Documenting success stories and the impact of the project. 
    • Any other duties assigned by the line manager.

    Educational Requirement

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Political Science, Conflict and peacebuilding studies, international relations,  Sociology, Psychology  or related fields;

    Experience

    • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and in a diverse workplace.
    • Had volunteered with Search or any other INGO/NGO and understanding Search’s ethics will be an added advantage
    • Has attended Search’s training in the past (desired but not required)
    • Ability to prioritize, plan and organize workflow to tight time frames and handle multiple tasks.
    • Has a good understanding of the context in the five Local Government Areas we are working in.

    Skills Required

    •  Analytical skills – the ability to analyze data from different perspectives
    • Interpersonal, Coordination, and communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Understanding English, Hausa, and Fulfulde languages is a plus factor
    • Ability to work under stringent deadlines with acute attention to detail.
    • Self‐starter with the ability to manage time effectively.

    Project Officer, Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA)

    About the Project:

    • JISRA is an interfaith consortium, including Catholic, Islamic, protestant, interreligious, and secular organizations for the promotion of Religion or belief (FoRB). The project will partner with religious actors as agents of change within the broader civic space while acknowledging religious actors’ important role in promoting FoRB.
    • The project’s goal is to strengthen the voice of religious actors in civil society and in nurturing civic spaces while leveraging religious actors’ roles in advocacy and FoRB. S/he will develop the project implementation plan and ensure that the activities are executed as planned and within the timeframe and are of the highest quality; coordinate with the project participants and ensure the logistics of all the events go smoothly; and prepare monthly progress and quarterly reports. Besides, s/he will also provide support to some of SFCG’s projects and programs, as and when necessary and appropriate. 

    Major duties and responsibilities

    Educational Qualifications and Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in social science, arts, development studies, or related field;
    • At least 2 years of professional experience in project cycle management, coordinating project activities, outreach, and/or advocacy; 
    • Experience working with CSOs, partners, and faith-based groups will be an added advantage;

    Early Warning and Early Response (Ewer) Intern

    OBJECTIVE FOR THE ENGAGEMENT OF AN EWER INTERN

    • The EWER component of the COMITAS Project is in need of interns who will provide support towards achieving a proactive and reactive environment in our 22 project communities across Taraba and Adamawa State. This medium is a sequel to the project communities’ responses; as it relates to Early Warning Early Response (EWER)The Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System) data will be stored in a database. The objective of the IVR System is primarily, to support the various levels of engagement for real-time responses to the project community structures within and around the various project communities as well as other assigned deliverables on the COMITAS-II project.
    • S/he will work under the direct supervision of the EWER Coordinator and in close coordination with the Project team. The position is based in Yola and Jalingo with frequent travel to the field when needed.

    The roles and responsibilities

    • Receiving calls through the IVR system from project communities and providing accurate, satisfactory answers to their queries and concerns on Early Warning security threats within project communities.
    • Manage and de-escalate situations involving violent conflicts in the project communities; offering real-time assistance and support to the necessary response unit(s) for short, medium, or long-term assistance.
    • Call CRN, CSAD, and community mobilizers and observers to collate, inform and ascertain information periodically within their communities for further data analysis.
    • Record all IVR calls from all the 10  project communities for onward transmission to the database backup for storage.
    • Collaborate and triangulate information with security agencies, community influencers on any other relevant stakeholders.
    • Provide feedback to the EWER Coordinator in real-time on early warning signals and/or events.
    • Provide diligent, resourceful, and timely information to the EWER Team for storage on the back-end database of the EWER System
    • Be discreet with sharing sensitive information security information to persons who may not be assigned.
    • Provide other necessary support to the team relating to the project.
    • Perform any other task as may be assigned by the supervisor.
    • Understands, explains, and shares information on assigned tasks with accuracy and clarity to those assigned on deliverables. 
    • Demonstrate regular and consistent communication skills and frequency with supervisors, colleagues, security agencies, and all project communities.

    DQA and Learning

    • Conduct site visits during the project implementation phase in assigned areas.
    • Undertake comprehensive analysis of project routine data based on the history of site visits; present findings to DMEL Manager in a concise and professional manner.
    • In concert with the DMEL Manager, develop Monitoring and Evaluation plans and tools for field-level activities.
    • Conduct DQA and Produce a “routine monitoring report” (RMR) according to an approved template for each site visit prior to the indicator verification visit.
    • Share observations from monitoring visits with the DMEL Manager and program team when findings demonstrate questionable actions.
    • Assist in research and data collection, analysis, and report writing.
    • Analyze project-specific and country IPTT and action plans from all assigned areas and share reports with the DMEL Manager timely as agreed.
    • Populate the KM database on a monthly basis with findings from different DMEL activities.
    • Support quality, conflict-sensitive, innovative, and effective DMEL process in the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
    • Implementing SFCG M&E standards around project planning meetings, baseline studies, listenership surveys, data collection processes, monitoring missions, and evaluations in the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
    • Support follow-up, tracking, and reporting on project-level evaluation recommendations and the updating of lessons log, including collation, analysis, and reporting on organizational learning.
    • Identify lessons learned, constraints, and project impacts based on the determined theme and/or sector for inclusion in Quarterly Reports.
    • Maintain and organize an electronic and paper record as MoV while providing minute-taking and summary record duties as required
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the programs and Media & Communications teams when developing impact assessments, success stories, newsletters, and weekly reporting.
    • Work with DMEL Manager to coordinate quarterly reflection and learning sessions with Search Staff in the State offices.
    • Represent the program positively and professionally in both internal and external environments.
    • Coordinate weekly with the DMEL Manager to determine priority tasks. Ensure the state team is aware of and up to date on all DMEL tasks and reports.
    • Participate in professional training and development activities, as necessary.

    Education & Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in research methodologies, social sciences, related disciplines; or a related area;
    • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in design, monitoring, and evaluation methodologies, of which at least one year of experience in the peacebuilding M&E;
    • Proven experience in using qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis tools;
    • Knowledge of participatory methods, mixed methods, outcome mapping, and/or impact evaluation techniques;

    Other Relevant Requirements

    • A collaborative working style that enables coaching and training in M&E principles and best-practices
    • Demonstrated capacity to coordinate evaluations, including experience developing evaluation terms of reference and recruiting and managing consultants;
    • Extensive knowledge and application of proposal design principles;
    • Knowledge of data software such as Excel, STATA, and SPSS;
    • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills;

    Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Intern

    Position Summary

    • The Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DMEL) intern will provide support and advice on the design, development, and implementation of a monitoring and evaluation system within the project and the organization. The DMEL intern will provide oversight on program-level monitoring, evaluation, and learning especially on the Early Warning Early Response (EWER) component of the project.
    • S/he will work with the DMEL Coordinator and the EWER team to gather, analyze, and process complex information related to all aspects of program activity implementation.
    • The incumbent carries out his/her work according to an established standard operating procedure for collecting, collating, and entering data, monitoring project progress, measuring program inputs/outputs, and evaluating progress and changes as the project is being implemented 
    • S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DMEL) Coordinator and will work closely with the EWER/programs, and other project team members.
