    Women and Girls Safe Space Security Guard

    • Openings:  Two (2) slots
    • Reports To: Snr. Project Officer
    • Duration: 6 Months with Possible extension

    About the Position (Task and Responsibilities)

    General Position Summary 

    The Security Guard for the MARTAWA ZUROMAYE Project will ensure the safety and well-being of all participants involved in the project. This includes project staff, beneficiaries, survivors and other stakeholders. The security Guard will outline the key responsibilities, standards, and procedures to mitigate security risks and enhance the overall security of the project.

    Essential Job Responsibilities 

    1. Conduct regular patrols of the area to deter criminal activity and monitor for any suspicious behavior or incidents.
    2. Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including medical situations, fires, or security breaches. Coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
    3. Inspect and secure facilities, equipment, or assets to prevent theft, vandalism, or unauthorized access.
    4. Maintain order and safety during events, gatherings, or situations where there is a large crowd. Manage crowd flow and respond to any disturbances.
    5. Maintain effective communication with supervisors, fellow security personnel, and clients. Report incidents and activities as required.
    6. Monitor surveillance equipment to detect and respond to security threats.
    7. Enforce safety rules and regulations, such as fire safety protocols, to ensure the well-being of all individuals in the area.
    8. De-escalate situations that may lead to conflict or disturbances, using verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    9. Maintain accurate records and write detailed reports on incidents, activities, and security-related matters.
    10. Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities, and work to mitigate them to prevent security breaches.
    11. Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other relevant authorities as needed.
    12. Be prepared to handle crisis situations, such as natural disasters or terrorist threats, following established protocols.
    13. If working in a diverse community or with international visitors, be culturally sensitive and understanding to create a positive and welcoming environment.
    14. Handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality as required by the job.
    15. Seek ways to enhance security procedures and protocols and provide recommendations for improvements.

    Collaboration / Ethical Operating Standards:

    1. The Security Guard is expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards and promote the principles of neutrality and impartiality.
    2. Respect for human rights. Collaboration with local authorities, international organizations, and community leaders is crucial.
    3. The guard must operate in full compliance with national and international laws and standards, particularly those related to the safety and protection of women and girls.

    Qualification and Skills

    1. Experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
    2. Must be recognize with a letter from Community head
    3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    4. Knowledge of local security issues and challenges.
    5. Familiarity with local laws, regulations, and emergency response procedures.
    6. Problem-solving abilities.
    7. Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
