Crewing Officer at an International Maritime Services Company

Role Overview 

We are an international maritime services company headquartered in the UAE, with established operations in Nigeria. We are seeking a highly experienced Crewing Officer to independently manage all local crewing operations. This is a sole contributor role in Nigeria, reporting directly to the Crewing Manager overseas. The position requires full ownership of crew administration, logistics, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of seafarers’ personal data, certificates, and travel documents.
• Update crew data in the company’s database for payroll and personnel tracking.
• Review applications and interview notes for crew engagement.
• Liaise with Flag States and agencies to ensure valid endorsements.
• Process reimbursement claims and ensure timely payments.
• Coordinate embarkation checklists, ticketing, visas, travel, and hotel reservations.
• Monitor crew under medical assistance and follow up on disembarkations due to health reasons.
• Verify validity of all certificates and documents, ensuring compliance with STCW requirements.
• Brief joiners on company terms, SMS procedures, and pre‑departure checklists.
• Ensure medical examinations, drug testing, inoculations, and health book updates are completed.
• Prepare payrolls and maintain crew contracts, timesheets, and safe manning records.

Requirements

• Graduate with nautical knowledge.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in crewing, preferably in offshore/marine operations.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end crewing functions without departmental support.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer literacy and database management skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
