The Senior Financial Accountant will be a team leader within the finance department, ensuring that both departmental and corporate goals and objectives are met.
Provides adequate support towards creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization on all the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as ensuring that internal controls, accounting standards, and government regulations are strictly adhered to.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and generate business reports for decision making.
Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for fixed assets management.
Co-ordinate monthly and annual inventory count exercise in warehouse and report unreconciled discrepancies.
Analyse accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and in line with the applicable standards.
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
Guide accounting staff by coordinating their activities and providing their required supports.
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account and other available information.
Prepare monthly schedule of accounts under your supervision.
Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Works with the Financial controller on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
Review records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
Develop systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
Ensure that assets are accurately capitalized and prepare monthly capex report.
Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Requirements
5 - 10 years’ experience in Accounting and Finance.
Experience within the engineering industry (telecom, power solutions, construction, etc.)
Qualified Accounting professional from ACCA, ICAN, CIMA and other related finance accreditations
Good overall knowledge of accounting and administration.
Audit or Internal Control procedures experience is an added advantage
Good understanding of IFRS/IAS standards.
