    MAMII State Focal Point – Borno

    Technical Responsibilities – Scope of work

    Support Implementation of MAMII Activities: 

    • Assist in the rollout of maternal health interventions across priority LGAs, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and local priorities
    • Facilitate planning meetings with local health authorities and partners to coordinate activities

    Supervision and Monitoring: 

    • Conduct routine supervisory visits to health facilities, community resource groups, outreach sites, and referral hubs
    • Ensure health facilities are adhering to standard protocols for maternal services, including antenatal care, delivery, and postnatal services.
    • Verify the availability, management, and proper use of commodities such as maternal commodities, delivery kits, and equipment.
    • Assess the functionality of emergency transport systems and referral mechanisms. o Monitor and report status of PHC revitalization across priority wards

    Community Engagement and Referral System Oversight: 

    • Supervise community resource groups (community health volunteers, and women’s groups) activities towards promoting maternal health awareness.
    • Monitor and support community-led tracking and linking of pregnant women to HFs o Facilitate and verify effective referral linkages from community to health facilities, including tracking of referred cases and follow-up.

    Health Insurance and Emergency Transportation Monitoring:

    • Support in tracking and enrolment of pregnant women into health insurance schemes such as NHIS or State schemes.
    • Ensure linkage to emergency transportation services, including ambulance services or communitybased transport solutions.

    Data Collection and Indicator Tracking: 

    • Monitor and verify data related to key maternal health indicators, such as Facility-based deliveries, Antenatal and postnatal care attendance, Maternal and child mortality and morbidity rates, Number of women enrolled in insurance schemes, Timeliness and appropriateness of referrals

    Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: 

    • Collaborate with SCIDaR communication teams to document success stories (in form of pictures, reports), lessons learned, and best practices.
    • Collect qualitative and quantitative data to support reporting, advocacy, and policy dialogue.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports highlighting progress, challenges, and actionable recommendations

    Work Experience & Qualifications 

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Community Development, or relevant fields
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in maternal health, community health, or health program supervision
    • Proven experience in monitoring health interventions, community engagement, and referral systems.
    • Familiarity with community resource groups, health insurance schemes, and emergency transport systems.
    • Strong organizational, supervisory, and coordination skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, photography and reporting skills.
    • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and handle multiple tasks.
    • Knowledge of local cultural norms and the health system context is preferred.
