Chief Mechanic at Uniterm Nigeria Limited

The Mechanic ensures all preventative and corrective maintenance is completed within the required timescale and in accordance with the maintenance management set out by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor and in compliance with Borr Drilling Policies and Procedures. The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all mechanical equipment remains functional throughout operations so as to minimize downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities.

• Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Maintenance Supervisor on the day-to-day management and long-range stewardship of the rig.
• Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
• Actively participate in and contribute to pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings; Observation program, or special operations safety meetings and ensure any concerns or issues are reported appropriately.
• Ensure that entries on permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment.
• Ensure clear and comprehensive handovers are communicated to relief personnel.
• Support, encourage and mentor subordinates to ensure they have the skills and opportunity to build job specific competencies and complete training requirements.
• Personally achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements for job role.

Qualifications and experience.

The Mechanic shall have has a minimum, a High School or similar education with a minimum of 8 years oilfield experience. Specifically, we require individuals who have 4 years of experience in the role of Mechanic onboard an offshore installation where they have had experience with: drilling instrumentation, hydraulic drive systems and equipment in hazardous areas. Candidates must hold their Offshore Survival (OPITO BOSIET/FOET) and Offshore Medical (OEUK).
