Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Biochemist to join our client’s new skincare division. This role involves researching, developing, and testing skincare formulations to ensure product efficacy, safety, and compliance. The Biochemist will work closely with product development and marketing teams, applying their expertise in cosmetic biochemistry to create high-quality skincare products tailored to diverse skin types.

Key Responsibilities:

• Formulation Development: Research and develop innovative skincare products with safe, effective ingredients suitable for various skin types.
• Testing and Analysis: Conduct laboratory tests on raw materials and formulations to ensure quality, stability, and compatibility.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet regulatory standards for cosmetics, including all necessary documentation.
• Research: Stay updated on cosmetic science advancements, skincare trends, and new ingredients.
• Quality Control: Work with quality assurance teams to uphold quality and safety standards across production batches.
• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including marketing and design, to provide product descriptions, usage guidelines, and labelling information.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of research, testing, and product specifications for audits and regulatory purposes.

Requirements:

• BSc or MSc in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in cosmetic formulation—experience in skincare product development is essential.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with proficiency in lab equipment and analytical software.
• Familiarity with Nigerian and international cosmetic regulations, as well as an understanding of natural and synthetic skincare ingredients.
• Knowledge of skincare trends, particularly in skin health and anti-aging.
• Strong understanding of the Nigerian skincare market.
