Job Summary
The Plumber is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing the College's plumbing systems to ensure a safe, functional, and uninterrupted water supply and sanitation infrastructure. The role supports the smooth operation of Wellspring College by responding promptly to plumbing faults, carrying out preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all plumbing facilities—including toilets, bathrooms, hostels, kitchens, laboratories remain in excellent working condition.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Maintenance
- Inspect, maintain, and repair all plumbing systems across the College.
- Diagnose and repair leaks, burst pipes, faulty taps, valves, toilets, sinks, showers, and drainage systems.
- Ensure all plumbing fixtures are functional and in good condition.
- Replace damaged pipes, fittings, and plumbing accessories as required.
Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of plumbing infrastructure to identify potential issues before they become major faults.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules for all plumbing installations.
- Ensure regular servicing of pumps, water tanks, water closets, and associated plumbing systems.
- Monitor water pressure and identify abnormalities.
Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies to minimize disruption to school operations.
- Isolate and repair leaks or burst pipes quickly and safely.
- Ensure urgent plumbing issues affecting classrooms, hostels, kitchens, or sanitation facilities are resolved within agreed timelines.
Inspection & Reporting
- Carry out daily inspections of toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, laboratories, and other plumbing facilities.
- Report recurring faults, ageing infrastructure, and major repair requirements to the Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and job completion reports.
- Escalate issues requiring external contractors or specialised equipment.
Water & Sanitation Management
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply throughout the College.
- Monitor the condition of water storage tanks and plumbing accessories.
- Ensure drainage systems remain free from blockages.
- Support efforts to promote proper sanitation and hygiene standards.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations while carrying out plumbing work.
- Use appropriate tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure work areas are left clean and safe after repairs.
- Handle plumbing materials and chemicals responsibly.
Inventory & Equipment
- Maintain plumbing tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Monitor stock levels of plumbing materials and consumables.
- Submit timely requests for replacement parts and materials.
- Minimise waste and ensure prudent use of resources.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Maintenance Team, Janitorial Supervisor, Security Team, Boarding Staff, and Administration to ensure facilities remain operational.
- Support facility improvement projects and renovations involving plumbing works.
- Assist other maintenance personnel where necessary.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Response time to plumbing faults.
- Percentage of plumbing issues resolved within agreed timelines.
- Number of repeat plumbing faults.
- Availability and functionality of toilets and water points.
- Preventive maintenance compliance.
- Water conservation and reduction of leak-related losses.
- Accuracy and timeliness of maintenance reports.
- Compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Plumbing.
- Relevant vocational training or certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years' practical plumbing experience, preferably in a school, hospital, hotel, or large facility.

Note: The Plumber is expected to immediately escalate any plumbing fault that cannot be resolved within the same working day, or any fault that significantly affects school operations, to the School Administrator. Failure to promptly escalate critical maintenance issues will be regarded as a performance concern.
