Role Overview

Sacvin Nigeria Limited, a leading manufacturer of PVC and PPR pipes and fittings, is seeking a skilled and results-oriented Extrusion Technician (Mechanical) to join its Production Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PVC and PPR extrusion lines to ensure optimal production output, product quality, and equipment reliability.

The ideal candidate should possess strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with extrusion machinery, and the ability to identify and resolve equipment-related issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adhering to safety and quality standards

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup and calibration of extrusion machinery to meet production specifications
• Monitor equipment during production runs to identify and address any operational issues promptly
• Monitor PVC and PPR extrusion machines to achieve production targets and quality specifications.
• Set up extrusion lines, tooling, dies, calibrators, vacuum systems, haul-off units, cutters, and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform machine start-up, changeovers, shutdowns, and routine inspections.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and coordinate corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on extrusion equipment and supporting utilities.
• Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
• Ensure proper documentation of machine performance, maintenance activities, and production records.
• Adhere strictly to safety, quality, housekeeping, and environmental procedures.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve operational issues.
• Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedules
• Carry out PM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required, and provide feedback to develop the system
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
• Conduct regular safety inspections and participate in safety training programs
• Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
• Work within the 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) methodology to maintain the workplace to a high standard
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, parts used, and equipment performance data
• Provide detailed reports on equipment status, maintenance needs, and completed repairs
• Report breakdown of root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management
• Identify spare requirements and log usage
• Estimate the length of time required to complete a job and the likely consequences of failure to complete work within the required timescales
• Ensure all work is undertaken to a high-quality standard and adheres to all quality standard regulations
• Ensure company targets are met with respect to quality

Qualifications and Experience

• OND, HND, or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years' experience operating or maintaining PVC/PPR extrusion lines in a manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of extrusion processes, machine components, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
• Ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards and workplace safety requirements.
