    Head of Engineering / Technology

    Role Overview

    The Head of Technology / Engineering is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing ITEX’s technology strategy, leading large-scale engineering teams, and ensuring the delivery of robust, secure, and scalable payment systems. This role will work closely with Executive Leadership, Product, Risk & Compliance, and Business teams to support ITEX’s growth objectives and regulatory obligations within the payments ecosystem.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technology Strategy & Leadership

    • Define and execute ITEX’s overall technology and engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
    • Serve as a core member of the senior leadership team, providing strategic input on product direction, scalability, and innovation.
    • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, architecture standards, and emerging technologies relevant to the payments space.

    Engineering & Delivery Excellence

    • Lead, mentor, and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams (backend, frontend, infrastructure, DevOps, QA, security).
    • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of mission-critical payment platforms, APIs, and integrations.
    • Establish and enforce software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, CI/CD, and release management best practices.

    Payments Platform & Architecture

    • Oversee the design, development, and optimisation of high-availability, high-throughput transaction processing systems.
    • Ensure platform scalability, resilience, performance, and fault tolerance across all products and services.
    • Make key architectural decisions around cloud, microservices, APIs, data management, and system integrations.

    Security, Risk & Compliance

    • Ensure systems comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, data protection, payment regulations).
    • Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to manage technology risks and security controls.
    • Champion a strong culture of security-by-design and data protection across engineering teams.

    Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and Commercial teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
    • Support external technical engagements with partners, vendors, and regulators where required.

    Talent Development & Culture

    • Build, retain, and develop high-performing engineering teams within a fast-paced FinTech environment.
    • Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
    • Support succession planning and leadership development within the technology function.

    Required Experience & Qualifications

    • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and technology leadership roles.
    • Minimum of 5 years leading large engineering teams in a vibrant payments, FinTech, or financial services environment.
    • Proven experience building and scaling payment platforms, transaction processing systems, or financial APIs.
    • Strong background in system architecture, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development frameworks.
    • Demonstrated success in managing complex, high-availability systems in regulated environments.
    • Experience working with cross-functional leadership teams and influencing at executive level.

    Technical & Leadership Competencies

    • Deep understanding of payment systems, transaction flows, settlement, and integrations.
    • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and scalable architectures.
    • Excellent people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
    • Strategic thinker with strong execution capability in fast-growth environments.
    • High level of integrity, ownership, and accountability.

    IT Infrastructure Manager

    The Manager, IT Infrastructure is responsible for leading the planning, deployment, security, and optimization of the company’s entire technology infrastructure. This includes data centers, cloud platforms, network systems, servers, storage, cybersecurity tools, IT operations, service delivery, and disaster recovery environments.

    The role ensures high availability, stability, scalability, and security of all systems that power the organization’s solutions—such as POS services, Agency Banking platforms, PSSP systems, VAS services, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate must have strong experience managing IT infrastructure in a regulated, fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Drive the IT infrastructure strategy, architecture standards, and governance compliance (CBN, NIBSS, NDPC, ISO 27001).
    • Oversee data centers, cloud systems, LAN/WAN networks, firewalls, servers, and storage environments.
    • Ensure 24/7 infrastructure availability, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
    • Lead cybersecurity architecture, continuous monitoring, vulnerability testing, and regulatory compliance.
    • Manage IT operations including Service Desk, incident resolution, hardware deployment, and SLA delivery.
    • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity implementation and periodic testing.
    • Manage hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization technologies.
    • Lead vendor management, procurement, infrastructure cost optimization, and SLA compliance.
    • Provide leadership and development to IT infrastructure and operations teams.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field; MSc/MBA is an advantage.
    • Professional certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, MCSE, AWS/Azure, ITIL preferred.
    • Strong expertise in network architecture, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, servers, and virtualization.
    • Minimum of 5 years in IT, and 3 in Senior/Leadership role
    • Experience in fintech or high-transaction environments.
    • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
