    Senior HR Executive - Shipping & logistics

    The Senior HR Officer will provide strategic and operational support to the HR function, ensuring effective execution of HR policies, procedures, and programs that drive employee engagement, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The role demands in-depth knowledge of HR practices, coupled with an understanding of the shipping and logistics industry’s unique operational challenges, including workforce planning for drivers, fleet operations, and port-based personnel.

    Job Details

    Recruitment & Selection

    • Lead end-to-end recruitment for technical, operational, and support roles (e.g., truck drivers, port/warehouse operatives, shipping officers, operations supervisors).
    • Develop and maintain a qualified talent pool for both skilled and unskilled positions, ensuring minimal downtime in critical operations.
    • Partner with department heads to forecast manpower needs and design recruitment strategies aligned with operational schedules and customer demands.
    • Ensure pre-employment background checks, reference verifications, and compliance with maritime/transport regulatory requirements.

    Employee Onboarding & Integration

    • Coordinate structured onboarding programs for both field and office staff, ensuring seamless cultural integration and role readiness.
    • Develop industry-specific induction content on HSE, compliance, and company operational standards.
    • Monitor probationary periods and prepare confirmation recommendations.

    Employee Relations & Engagement

    • Serve as first point of contact for resolving grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict mediation in line with company policies and Nigerian Labour Laws.
    • Implement engagement programs tailored to diverse workforce groups, including seafarers, fleet drivers, dock workers, and administrative teams.
    • Conduct regular site and depot visits to maintain visibility and connection with remote and shift-based teams.

    Performance Management

    • Drive the company’s performance appraisal process, ensuring timely goal setting, mid-year reviews, and end-year evaluations.
    • Support line managers in setting measurable KPIs for operational, technical, and support roles.
    • Identify performance gaps and collaborate with Training to implement corrective interventions.

    Learning & Development

    • Coordinate technical and behavioral training programs, including maritime safety, fleet operations efficiency, and leadership development for supervisors.
    • Maintain training records and assess ROI on learning initiatives.
    • Ensure statutory trainings (e.g., HSE, port safety) are conducted for relevant staff.

    Compensation & Benefits Administration

    • Support payroll processing through timely input of employee data changes, attendance, overtime, and allowances.
    • Administer employee benefits, including medical insurance, leave management, and industry-specific allowances.
    • Provide periodic compensation benchmarking within the shipping and logistics sector.

    HR Policy & Compliance

    • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are up to date and aligned with labour laws, maritime regulations, and company standards.
    • Maintain HR records in compliance with ISO and other audit standards applicable to shipping and logistics operations.
    • Support compliance with port authorities’ and regulatory bodies’ workforce requirements.

    Reporting & HR Analytics

    • Prepare periodic HR reports (headcount, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment metrics) for management decision-making.
    • Analyze HR data to identify trends and recommend proactive measures.

    Qualifications, Experience & Skills

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Professional certification (CIPM, SHRM, CIPD) preferred.

    Experience

    • Minimum 4–6 years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory HR role.
    • Experience in shipping, logistics, haulage, or related transport sector is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing large, dispersed, and shift-based workforce.

    Technical Skills

    • Strong knowledge of Nigerian Labour Laws and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Competence in HR analytics and report preparation.

    IT Project Manager

    We are looking for a highly skilled IT Project Manager to lead and coordinate a diverse portfolio of technology-driven projects within Sunbeth. This role is focused on managing critical IT initiatives, including enterprise IT solutions, networking projects, and system deployments. As an integral part of the IT team, you will report directly to the Group Head of IT and work closely with the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure that all IT projects are aligned with Sunbeth's strategic goals and delivered successfully. Your expertise will be key in bridging the gap between technical execution and project management, ensuring that projects meet business objectives while maintaining high standards of quality, timeliness, and efficiency.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage diverse IT projects, including enterprise solutions, networking, IT infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives, ensuring successful delivery aligned with business objectives.
    • Work with the PMO to ensure project strategies are aligned with Sunbeth’s broader goals, developing project plans that meet organizational standards and requirements.
    • Oversee the full lifecycle of IT projects from scoping, planning, and resource allocation to execution, deployment, and project closure.
    • Travel across Nigeria and potentially internationally to ensure effective on-the-ground implementation of IT projects, providing leadership and support for successful delivery.
    • Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders (Internal, External), ensuring clear communication, managing expectations, and aligning project deliverables with business needs.
    • Identify and address potential project risks, managing changes and issues that arise, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project timelines.
    • Lead and mentor project teams, promoting collaboration and high performance. Provide guidance to ensure that all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
    • Maintain thorough project documentation, including progress reports, risk logs, status updates, and change requests. Report on project milestones and deliverables to stakeholders and senior leadership.
    • Manage relationships with vendors and third-party providers, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
    • Contribute to refining project management processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the PMO.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management, with a proven track record in managing complex, cross-functional projects that involve enterprise solutions, networking, IT infrastructure, and digital transformation.
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, or related field.
    • PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or similar project management certifications are highly preferred.
    • Strong experience in managing enterprise IT solutions, networking, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity projects.
    • Proficiency with tools like Monday.com, Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, etc. 
    • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align teams and clients across various business units.
    • Must be willing and able to travel across Nigeria and internationally as required by project needs.
