    Senior Programme Associate (MERI)

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities. 
    • Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.
    • Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments as necessary.   
    • Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
    • Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures. 
    • Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
    • Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops.
    • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
    • Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project. 
    • Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.
    • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
    • Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned. 
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • University degree in Development, Social or Political Sciences, Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 4 years of relevant experience or High School Diploma in the above fields with 6 years of relevant working experience.

    Experience

    • Experience in development oriented programmes monitoring, evaluation and reporting including demonstrable experience dealing with internal displacement and durable solutions. 
    • Experience with working in the area of project development and/or implementation, and preferably with different project donors. 
    • Experience working in a complex crisis environment or a post-conflict environment. 
    • Familiarity with area-based approaches and multi-sectoral interventions (shelter, WASH, health, education, livelihoods, governance, etc.).
    • Experience in liaising with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs, and community structures.
    • Field experience in Nigeria, especially in Benue or the North-Central region, is an advantage.
    • Experience with EU funded project implementation and reporting is desirable

    Skills

    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint. 
    • Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage. 
    • Strong sense of details and accuracy in all matters. 
    • Reliable, able to work under pressure, good organizational skills and drive for results. 
    • Knowledge about durable solutions and inter-agency collaborations

    Knowledge of UN system and ideally of IOM rules, regulations and systems (e.g PRIMA) would be an advantage
