The Project Supervisor will act as the Project Owner’s on-site technical and supervisory representative for the project site in Jos. The role requires a highly competent civil engineer or architect with deep, practical knowledge of building construction, strong attention to detail, and proven experience supervising commercial building projects.
The Project Supervisor will protect the Project Owner’s interests by ensuring that construction works are executed in strict compliance with approved designs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), specifications, quality standards, timelines, and cost objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
Site & Construction Supervision
- Provide consistent, hands-on on-site supervision of all construction activities.
- Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and method statements.
- Proactively identify construction risks, technical issues, and deviations, and ensure timely resolution.
- Exercise sound technical judgment on construction methods, sequencing, and detailing.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Enforce high-quality workmanship standards across all trades and finishes.
- Conduct regular inspections, stage certifications, and snagging exercises.
- Ensure materials, workmanship, and installations meet project specifications and applicable standards.
- Reject substandard work and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Commercial Oversight & BOQ Review
- Review and interrogate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with design intent.
- Monitor site works against BOQs to identify discrepancies, potential variations, or scope gaps.
- Support the evaluation of variations, change requests, and contractor claims from a technical and quantity perspective.
- Promote value-for-money decisions while maintaining required quality standards.
Contractor & Consultant Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate contractors and subcontractors on site.
- Liaise closely with the Architectural Consultant to ensure design intent is properly interpreted and executed on site.
- Coordinate resolution of design queries, clarifications, and site instructions in collaboration with the consultant team.
- Review shop drawings and technical submissions for alignment with architectural and engineering requirements.
Programme & Reporting
- Monitor construction progress against approved schedules and milestones.
- Prepare regular site and progress reports for the Project Director.
- Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, and correspondence.
Health, Safety & Site Discipline
- Promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
- Identify unsafe practices and ensure prompt corrective action.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or architecture (mandatory).
- 7–10 years’ post-qualification experience in building construction.
- Demonstrated experience supervising commercial building projects.
- Strong understanding of BOQs, construction detailing, finishes, and site execution.
- Prior experience working in an owner’s team, consultant, or supervisory role is a strong advantage.
