    Programme Support Assistant Intern

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The internship is UNPAID. The minimum duration of this internship is ten (10) working weeks. Interns work five days per week (full-time - 40 hours).  This internship is located at the office of the Country Representative of the UNODC Country Office in Nigeria (CONGA), Abuja. The office oversees CONGA programs & operations and manages the entire CONGA office as well as partnerships.  Carrying out his/her tasks under the direct supervision of the CONGA Country Representative, the intern will perform the following functions:

    • Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents  
    • Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings  
    • Document, legal and internet research  
    • Assistance during conferences  
    • Working on web-presentation  
    • Evaluation of projects  
    • Compiling statistics  
    • Media analysis  
    • Speech-writing
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • To qualify for an internship with the UNODC CONGA Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:  
    • Meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). ;
    • Have studied areas such as political science, public affairs, administration, programme management, or any related area;  
    • Computer literacy in standard software applications;  
    • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
    • Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.  
    • No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. The training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during the internship.
