About the Role
The Graduate Trainee is an exciting entry-level opportunity designed for young professionals who are passionate about operations, finance, inventory management, and supply chain. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across multiple warehouse functions through a structured learning and development programme.
The role provides practical exposure to inventory management, finance, sustainability, quality assurance, warehouse operations, weighbridge administration, compliance, and operational reporting, preparing candidates for future leadership opportunities within the business.
Key Responsibilities
The Graduate Trainee will undergo structured rotations across the warehouse and commercial value chain, gaining practical exposure to core business functions, including:
Warehouse Operations
- Support the receipt, storage, preservation, handling, and dispatch of agricultural commodities.
- Ensure proper warehouse space utilization and stock arrangement.
- Maintain accurate warehouse documentation and transaction records.
- Monitor compliance with warehouse SOPs and operational standards.
- Support logistics coordination for inbound and outbound commodity movements.
Inventory Management
- Perform daily inventory reconciliation and stock verification.
- Participate in periodic cycle counts and physical inventory exercises.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate stock variances.
- Support inventory valuation and ageing analysis.
- Prepare inventory movement and stock performance reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of inventory transactions within the ERP/warehouse management system.
Finance, Accounting & Commercial Finance
- Support warehouse accounting activities, including transaction posting and reconciliations.
- Assist with inventory costing and commodity valuation.
- Participate in month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
- Support accounts payable and receivable reconciliations relating to warehouse operations.
- Assist in preparing financial schedules and management reports.
- Monitor warehouse operational costs and support cost control initiatives.
- Assist in working capital monitoring, commodity financing, and cash flow reporting.
- Support corporate finance activities relating to budgeting, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
- Assist the Trade Finance team in processing commodity financing documentation, Letters of Credit (LCs), export documentation, shipping documents, and trade settlements.
- Support treasury activities, including payment processing, bank reconciliations, and fund utilization monitoring.
- Assist in preparing financial information for statutory and management audits.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Support tax computations and statutory remittances.
- Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations.
- Maintain tax documentation and schedules.
- Support compliance with FIRS, State Internal Revenue Service, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist during tax audits and statutory reviews.
- Ensure proper documentation to support regulatory reporting and compliance.
Internal Control & Risk Management
- Support the implementation of internal control procedures across warehouse operations.
- Conduct routine compliance checks on warehouse transactions and documentation.
- Verify adherence to company policies, SOPs, and delegated authority limits.
- Participate in stock audits, process audits, and operational compliance reviews.
- Investigate inventory variances and operational exceptions.
- Identify process gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Support fraud prevention initiatives and risk assessment activities.
- Assist in implementing audit recommendations and continuous control improvements.
- Maintain proper documentation to support internal and external audits.
Weighbridge Operations
- Record and verify all inbound and outbound truck weights.
- Ensure accurate issuance and reconciliation of weighbridge tickets.
- Validate commodity movement against inventory records.
- Report weight discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate weighbridge documentation.
Quality Assurance
- Support commodity grading, inspection, sampling, and quality assurance activities.
- Ensure commodities meet established quality specifications.
- Maintain quality control records and inspection reports.
- Support corrective actions relating to quality deviations.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Sustainability & ESG
- Support sustainability programmes across warehouse operations.
- Assist in implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.
- Support traceability and responsible sourcing programmes.
- Maintain sustainability documentation and compliance records.
- Participate in customer, certification, and sustainability audits.
- Promote environmentally responsible warehouse practices.
Operational Excellence & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Analyse warehouse performance and operational KPIs.
- Support data-driven decision-making through accurate reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency.
- Participate in cross-functional improvement projects.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote compliance with HSE policies and safe work practices.
- Participate in safety inspections and toolbox meetings.
- Report unsafe acts, conditions, and incidents promptly.
- Support the implementation of workplace safety initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency.
- Support process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-functional projects.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Minimum Second Class Lower) in:
- Accounting
- Economics
- Finance
- NYSC completed (Discharge Certificate required).
- 0–2 years post-NYSC work experience.
- Professional certifications (ICAN, ACA, ACCA, CFA, CILT, CIPS, etc.) are an added advantage.
Age Specification: 25 years and below.
