    Legal Officer

    How You'll Make an Impact

    • We are looking for a Legal Officer who has "startup DNA." Unlike a traditional law firm, you will be embedded in the business, supporting 20+ client meetings monthly and ensuring our contract cycle time is industry-leading.
    • You will be the guardian of our Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring 100% accuracy and compliance while maintaining a lightning-fast turnaround time of less than 24 hours.
    • If you are a collaborative, tech-savvy lawyer who loves building frameworks and navigating risk in a high-growth environment, this is your role.

    What You'll Do

    • Contract Management: Draft, review, and manage the lifecycle of all commercial contracts, ensuring 100% accuracy and protection.
    • Corporate Governance: Act as the primary point for due diligence, risk reporting, and regulatory compliance.
    • Legal Advisory: Provide real-time counsel to internal stakeholders to avoid disputes and manage litigation efficiently.
    • Onboarding Support: Participate in client onboarding meetings to ensure legal alignment from the very first touchpoint.

    What We're Looking For

    • Academic Qualification (Mandatory): Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university.
    • Professional (Mandatory): Barrister-at-Law (B.L) and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
    • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a corporate startup environment. We are specifically not looking for legal consulting/law firm backgrounds—you must be comfortable being an in-house generalist.
    • Speed & Precision: Ability to maintain a 24-hour TAT for document reviews without sacrificing quality.
    • Tech Savvy: Expert in collaborative tools (Google Drive, CRM) for legal document management.
    • Analytical Mindset: A researcher at heart who can translate complex laws into simple business SOPs.

    Success Milestones: Your First Year:
    Within 3 Months: Operations & Compliance Rigor:

    • Contract Lifecycle: Achieve a contract cycle time of 7 days and a review Turnaround Time (TAT) of 24 hours.
    • Digital Integration: Implement a 100% Google Drive review collaboration system for all legal documentation.
    • Due Diligence: Ensure 100% completion of due diligence reports for every prospective client before contract execution.
    • SLA Stability: Audit and standardize all active SLAs to ensure 100% compliance and clause consistency.

    Within 6 Months: Strategic Advisory & Risk Management:

    • Risk Reporting: Deliver monthly Risk & Compliance reports that identify and mitigate operational and litigation exposure.
    • Partnership Support: Support at least one major strategic partnership deal per quarter through legal mapping and framework design.
    • Dispute Avoidance: Maintain a high dispute avoidance ratio through proactive advisory and contract negotiation.
    • SOP Development: Lead the development and approval of at least one new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the legal function.

    Within 1 Year: Innovation & Regional Authority:

    • Service Diversification: Design and launch legal frameworks for new EISS business lines with zero regulatory breaches.
    • Innovation Research: Produce quarterly Innovation & Legal Research reports to keep EISS ahead of labor and corporate law shifts.
    • Process Optimization: Successfully implement at least one major legal process improvement initiative per quarter.
    • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Achieve a stakeholder satisfaction score of 80% through high-quality advisory and support.

    What the Recruitment Process Looks Like:

    • Step 1 - Application Review: Our Talent Acquisition team will review and evaluate your corporate startup experience.
    • Step 2 - Pre-screening Call & Coffee Chat: Initial discussion on your approach to TAT and risk management.
    • Step 3 - Panel Interview Session: Technical dive into your understanding of corporate law and SLA management.
    • Step 4 - Technical Assessments: A pressure test involving Contract Review and a Risk Assessment scenario.
    • Step 5 - CRO’s Chat: Final session with the CRO to ensure alignment on business growth and legal strategy.
