    Litigation Associate

    Job Summary: 

    • You will support the Firm's Dispute Resolution practice by representing and advising clients across a broad range of civil and criminal matters. You will work closely with Partners, Senior Associates, and external counsel to manage litigation matters from inception through resolution, including court appearances, drafting of processes, and strategic case management.

    Description

    • Initiate and prosecute civil and criminal proceedings on behalf of the Firm’s clients.
    • Defend actions instituted against clients and contribute to the development and execution of litigation strategies.
    • Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, written addresses, and other court processes.
    • Appear before courts, tribunals, and ADR bodies to represent clients as required.
    • Assist with trial preparation, hearings, and appeals.
    • Liaise with external counsel engaged on behalf of clients and support the coordination of litigation matters.
    • Maintain correspondence with courts, registries, and relevant dispute resolution bodies.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions on litigation-related issues.
    • Advise clients on dispute risks, potential claims, and litigation exposure.
    • Support Partners and Senior Associates with case analysis and strategy development.
    • Attend client meetings relating to disputes and provide litigation-focused legal advice.
    • Take accurate notes and prepare minutes of meetings where required.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
    • Qualifying Certificate from the Nigerian Law School and called to the Nigerian Bar.
    • Minimum of 5 years post-call experience in litigation and legal advisory practice.
    • Experience across commercial, employment, or general civil litigation is an advantage.
    • Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and strategic thinking abilities.
