    Rector

    Description

    • The Rector shall be the Chief Executive and Chief Academic Of- Ficer of the Polytechnic and shall exercise general supervision over Che Institution.
    • He/She shall be the Chairman of Board of Studies and Congregation and Member of the Governing Council. He/She shall be responsible to Council for the day to day management of the hu- man, financial and material resources of the Polytechnic.
    • The Rector is not only to provide the requisite leadership in academic affairs, he is expected to seek the support of the public sector, industry, higher educational institutions and professional bodies in repositioning the Institution for improved level of performance and global competitive-ness.

    The Candidate must possess

    • Doctorate (Ph.D) Degree from a recognised institution in a disci- pline offered in the Polytechnic Sector, or any requirement stipulated in the Scheme of Service for the appointment of a Chief Lecturer,
    • Minimum of Second Class Lower Division degree or Higher Na- tional Diploma (HND) with Lower Credit in a discipline offered in the Polytechnic Sector from a recognised institution;
    • Minimum of seventeen (17) years teaching experience in tertiary institutions, at least ten (10) years of which must have been gained in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution;
    • Chief Lecturer from the Polytechnic sector with not less than five (5) years' experience on the rank;
    • Demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership initiative and creativity in policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes;
    • Provide evidence of membership of professional body/ bodies recognized by the Federal Government;
    • Provide evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals as well as presentation of invited papers at educational conferences, seminars and workshops;
    • Be able to attract research grants and development facilities to the Polytechnic,
    • Person with initiative and vision with the capacity to sustain the accelerated pace of development of the Polytechnic, even under fi- nancial and other challenging constraints;
    • Person who is not likely to pursue racial, gender, political, reli- gious or other sectional interests:
    • Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment;
    • Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a govemment hospital);
    • Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

    Conditions of Service

    • All appointments will be for a term of five years and not renewable. Salary and other conditions of service shall be as approved for each position by Government and as may be approved by the Institution Governing Council from time to time.
    • Candidates must have 5 years to retiring at the assumption of office.

    Registrar

    Description

    • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Institution and shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the Institution.
    • The Registrar, who is in charge of the Registry Department, shall function as the Secretary to the Governing Council, Academic Board and Statutory Committees. The Registrar shall be respon- sible for keeping all records in the Institution and shall also perform other duties as may be assigned by the Rector.

    The Candidate for the post of Registrar of The Polytechnic, Ibadan must

    • Possess a good honour Degree in any relevant field from a recognized Institution.
    • A Postgraduate Degree at the higher level plus at least Fifteen (15) years cognate experience;
    • Be a registered and active member of the Nigeria Institute of Management or the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria or any recognised Professional Institution;
    • He/She must have been a Deputy Registrar for at least Five (5) years;
    • Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment;
    • Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a government hospital);
    • Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

    Conditions of Service

    • All appointments will be for a term of five years and not renewable.

    Bursar

    Responsibilities

    • The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of The Polytechnic and directly responsible to the Rector.
    • He/she is therefore responsible for the smooth running of the Bursary department, plans, organizes, directs and co-ordinates the operation of the financial system of the Institution.

     Requirements

    • Possess a good honours degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline from a rec- ognized Institution, and a Post Graduate Degree at Masters Level in relevant discipline;
    • Possess any of the following professionally recognized qualifica- tions-ACA, ICMA,
    • CPA, AACA, ICAN, ANAN:
    • Have a minimum of Fifteen (15) years cognate post qualification experience in a tertiary institution or relevant organization with at least five (5) years' experience as a Chief Accountant or its equivalent;
    • Be a man of integrity and transparency on matters of financial management with proven record and evidence of excellent manage- rial ability,
    • Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment;
    • Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a govemment hospital);
    • Be ICT-compliant and must be conversant with current trends in Financial Reporting- IFRS, IPSAS.

    Librarian

    Responsibilities

    • The Polytechnic Librarian is the Chief Supervising Officer of the Institution's Library and he/she is responsible for the overall library policy and preparation of library budgets.
    • The Polytechnic Librarian, who also plays a supervisory role over departmental libraries, is responsible to the Rector for the smooth running of the libraries within the institution and other matters as may be directed by the Rector.

     Requirements
    The candidate for the position of The Polytechnic Librarian must possess:

    • A good honours degree and a postgraduate degree at Masters Level in Library Studies with a minimum of fifteen (15) years cognate experience. Possession of Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree will be an added advantage;
    • He/She must have been a Deputy Librarian for a minimum of five (5) years;
      Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment;
      Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a government hospital);
      The candidate must be ICT compliant and must be highly knowledgeable in managing Library of a 21h century higher educa- tion institution.

    Director of Works and Services

    Responsibilities

    • The Director of Works and Services Department is the Chief Su- pervising Officer of the Department and he/she is directly responsible to the Rector in the performance of the following specific schedules, among others:
    • Formulation of divisional strategies to achieve institutional goals. b) Planning and controlling the technical activities of the Works and Services Department.
    • Advising the Rector on the acquisition, operation and mainte- nance of all Institution's assets.
    • Preparation of the Works and Services Department budget and exercising budget control.
    • Keeping an inventory of all Institution's vehicles and has the re- sponsibility of their maintenance, security and up-keep.

     Requirements
    The candidate for the position of Director of Works and Ser- vices must possess:

    • A good first degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a reputable Institution and a post graduate degree at Masters Level;
    • Must be a COREN Registered Engineer with current membership of relevant professional association(s);
    • Must not be below the rank of Chief Engineer,
    • Must have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate ex- perience in projects/works Management;
    • Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment:
    • Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a government hospital); Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
