    GBV Case Worker

    Role Summary

    • We are looking for a dedicated Caseworker to join WINN's Disability Inclusive Humanitarian Action (DIHA) project in Borno State, Nigeria.
    • Your role will involve identifying and addressing the needs of GBV survivors, designing and evaluating GBV interventions, and ensuring adherence to standard protocols.
    • You will assess GBV referral services, provide follow-up support, and maintain a survivor-centered approach.
    • Daily tasks include coordinating care referrals for health needs, managing a safe space for women and girls, and facilitating access to GBV prevention and response services.
    • Strong empathy, interpersonal skills, and cultural competence are essential for this role, contributing to WINN's mission of empowerment, disability inclusion, and gender equality.

    Specific Roles

    • Manage the day-to-day activities of Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) for women and girls
    • Oversee the skill building activities at the WGSS and write weekly and monthly progress report
    • Identify the specific needs of GBV survivors, then design, implement, monitor, and evaluate GBV prevention and response interventions.
    • Ensure interventions meet required standards through training and adherence to SOPs.
    • Assess the quality of GBV referral services.
    • Conduct regular follow-up calls and interviews with survivors, providing basic emotional support.
    • Act intentionally to mitigate GBV risks and Demonstrate commitment to gender equality.
    • Respond compassionately and appropriately to GBV disclosures.
    • Apply a survivor-centered approach, adhering to GBV Guiding Principles (Safety, Confidentiality, Respect, Non-discrimination).
    • Promote and integrate gender analysis and mainstreaming into humanitarian programming.
    • Identify and document success stories
    • Exhibit empathy, positive interpersonal skills, and cultural competence.
    • Provide prevention measures and care coordination referrals for maternal and child health, psychosocial, and behavioral health needs.
    • Maintain a system for timely and accurate information flow to facilitate case management.
    • Represent WINN at local coordination meetings and provide meaningful contributions
    • Identify immediate needs and provide appropriate referrals or supplies.
    • Conduct assessments, review referral information, engage key participants, identify systemic risks and protective factors, and analyze problem behaviors.
    • Manage a safe space where women and girls can socialize, rebuild social networks, receive social support, acquire relevant skills, access multi-sectoral GBV response and prevention services, and receive information on women's rights, health, and services

    Experience and technical competencies

    • 2-5 years of experience as a case worker
    • Must be from the target communities
    • Knowledge and operational experience of GBVIMS+
    • Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri is an added advantage.
    • Experience working with survivors of GBV
    • Previous training/experience in GBV
    • Good reporting skills
    • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
    • Good time-management skills
    • Great interpersonal and communication skills
    • Maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct
