Fashion and Beauty Editor at Marie Claire Nigeria

Summary:

• We are searching for an experienced fashion and beauty editor to join our creative team. Your goal will be to provide dynamic, exceptional, informative, and appealing editorials and content regarding the fashion industry and its trends to attract our targeted audience. Your goal is also to build customer loyalty for our exclusive fashion and beauty features. You will perform a range of tasks, including conceptualisation and execution of campaigns, evaluating proofs, setting publication goals, designing content, creating outstanding editorials, and generating story ideas. As the editor, you will show a good eye for detail and the know-how to manage all the moving parts of a publication. To excel in this position, the successful candidate will also possess excellent communication, editing, and proofreading skills.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Editor-in-Chief and Digital Editor to define the fashion and beauty strategy across all our digital platforms.
• Design the contents of publications based on the company’s publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing specifications.
• Create storylines and produce innovative story ideas that align with the brand’s core values and appeal to our target audience.
• Write fashion and beauty interviews, opinion pieces, and news stories for the website that meet the global standard.
• Establish and maintain the publication standards and goals.
• Building relationships with fashion designers, beauty brands, and other industry-related professionals.
• Coordinate with and oversee projects with designers, photographers, writers and output (artwork, design and photography).
• Commission and supervise stories from in-house writers, freelancers, and other media employees.
• Representing the brand at fashion and beauty shows, and other networking events.
• Supervising and managing the layout of the fashion and beauty categories on the website.
• Meet tight deadlines and monitor budgets.
• Proofread and edit stories or art pieces.

Requirements

• A portfolio and track record that embodies the values of Marie Claire.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field.
• Proven work experience as a fashion and beauty editor.
• Possess proven connections and access to people in the fashion and beauty industry and related industries.
• Deep interest in the fashion and beauty industry and its trends.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an excellent portfolio.
• Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of SEO and social media best practices.
• Ample knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS).
• A creative thinker with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience with MS Office, InDesign, Photoshop, or other publishing tools.
