English and Literature-in-English Teacher at Gonzaga Jesuit College

Job Description

• We seek a qualified and passionate English and Literature-in-English teacher to join our academic team.
• The teacher will help students improve their speaking, reading, writing, and appreciation of literature.

Responsibilities

• Teach English Language and Literature topics clearly and with examples
• Help students develop grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking skills
• Teach literature texts such as plays, poems, and novels
• Prepare lesson notes, classwork, assignments, and tests
• Encourage reading, creative writing, and good expression
• Monitor and record students’ progress.

Requirements
Education:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Literature, or English Education
• TRCN certification or proof of registration is an advantage

Experience:

• At least 3 years of teaching experience in English and Literature-in-English
• Experience preparing students for WAEC/NECO exams is required
• Being a WAEC/NECO examiner is an added advantage.

Skills:

• Strong command of English and literature
• Good communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to explain language rules and literary ideas in a simple way
• Patience and creativity in teaching
• Organised and able to plan well

• Must love teaching and helping students grow in confidence
• Must be available to resume at the beginning of the new academic term
• Must be ready to follow school rules and contribute to student formation
