English Teacher at Majesty Schools

We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and experienced English Language Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality English lessons, prepare students for internal and external examinations, and develop students’ communication, writing, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. The successful candidate should also be capable of coaching students for debates, spelling bees, essay competitions, and other literary and public speaking contests.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language lessons in line with the Nigerian curriculum.
• Prepare students for WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and other external examinations.
• Develop students’ reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and oral communication skills.
• Train and mentor students for debates, spelling bees, essay writing competitions, public speaking contests, and other literary events.
• Improve students’ confidence, pronunciation, diction, and presentation skills through public speaking and communication activities.
• Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, instructional materials, and assessments.
• Assess students through assignments, tests, presentations, and examinations, and maintain accurate academic records.
• Provide remedial lessons and academic support for students who require additional assistance.
• Foster a disciplined, engaging, and learner-centred classroom environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, extracurricular activities, school events, and professional development programmes.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the school management.

Requirements

• Minimum of a B.Ed., B.A. (Ed.), or Bachelor’s degree in English Language, English Education, Linguistics, Literature in English, or a related field with a teaching qualification.
• At least 2 years of teaching experience at the secondary school level.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian curriculum and examination requirements (WAEC, NECO, and JAMB).
• Proven ability to coach students for debates, spelling bees, essay writing, and public speaking competitions.
• Excellent written and spoken English with strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for developing confident, articulate, and academically excellent students.
• Basic computer literacy is an added advantage.
