    Chief Security Officer

    Job Description

    The Chief Security Officer (CSO) for Gamut directly reports to the Head of Operations and will be responsible for the daily operations of the largest unit within the organization. The CSO will remain proactive and vigilant to help protect the organization from all relevant threats and will administer appropriate security and safety protocols and/ or programs. A primary function of this role will be to provide leadership and direction to a team of Security Supervisors and various Security Officers across several tasks, including but not limited to: asset protection, accident response, post orders, policy enforcement, and emergency response, with a sharp focus on CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE STAFF AND CLIENT EXPERIENCE.  While this role is directly responsible for ensuring effective, efficient and safe security operations, the CSO must also be a model for and have a sharp focus on ensuring the client asset is safe from vandals. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Must be able to ride a motorcycle and be available to work any time at night
    • Oversees the daily operations of the unit and ensures all the unit functions are efficiently supported by security
    • Provides leadership to Security supervisors and the officers in their chain-of-command
    • Sets the tone and models exceptional customer service, inclusivity and ambassadorship for security team
    • Prepares weekly security officer work schedules
    • Administers and documents employee disciplinary action and written performance evaluations for security staff within their command
    • Prepares overtime summaries and tardy reports for the security department
    • Functions as alternate payroll administrator and assists with resolving pay discrepancies within the unit, as necessary
    • Audit beats unannounced 
    • Assists the Deputy Head of Operations as needed
    • Responds to emergency situations when necessary
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills, the ability to set and manage priorities, and work under pressure
    • Must possess and demonstrate by way of examples and past performance, advanced and solid judgment and decision making processes combined with admirable interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
    • Strong aptitude in organization with the ability to identify, analyze and solve problems, and able to develop and implement short- and long-term plans
    • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge and successful application of inclusive employment practices and regulations, along with well-founded budgeting, security guidelines and practices.
    • Must be experienced at and excited about managing and scheduling a large security staff
    • Ability to assist in developing an effective security team through modeling, hiring, training, and building motivation
    • Must be observant, alert, and pay attention to detail
    • Will be required to respond quickly in an emergency
    • Will need to be flexible with work hours, shifts and is continually On Call
    • Must possess the ability to effectively supervise and train personnel in a highly technical environment
    • Must possess a positive attitude and project a friendly, welcoming and professional image

    Education and Experience:

    • Military experience is preferred. 
    • An equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable and demonstrable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
    • Minimum of five years of experience in security or military or paramilitary or safety operations, and of that time, at least two years in a supervisory capacity
    • Computer proficiency in general business software preferred
