    Assistant Chef

    Job Description

    • Our client seeks an experienced Assistant Chef to join their team.
    • Responsibilities include assisting with menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and kitchen cleanliness.
    • The ideal candidate is required to have a strong understanding of intercontinental cuisine.

    Job Overview and Duties

    • Assist in meal planning, preparation, and cooking.
    • Create a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
    • Assist in bulk buying of food condiments and daily purchase of perishables.
    • Liaise with vendors and suppliers.
    • Measure meal ingredients for the Head Chef.
    • Prepare meal ingredients, season meats, and wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits.
    • Prepare basic salads and sauces.
    • Receive deliveries and verify quality.
    • Take inventory of restaurant supplies and notify the supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
    • Discard expired and spoiled food items.
    • Perform basic cleaning duties and sanitize workstations.
    • Plate and present meal items.
    • Compile a list of all kitchenware, appliances, and equipment used in the daily operations of the restaurant, maintain an updated list of these equipment, and report any damages or losses to the Operations Manager.
    • Ensure that all ingredients utilized in each dish are fresh, clean, and of high quality.
    • Monitor inventory and replace any missing stocks when necessary.
    • Dispose of any and all expired products and ingredients and replace such missing stocks on a regular basis.
    • Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the operations manager.

    Requirements

    • B.Sc / HND in Food Science / Food Technology, Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field.
    • Culinary training school certification.
    • 2+ years of experience as a chef.
    • Experience in menu pricing and design.
    • In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques.
    • Ability to properly prepare meals to meet the restaurant's standards for quality and taste.
    • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and work under pressure.
    • Excellent communication skills.
