Adjunct Faculty – Economics at The Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM)

ROLE OVERVIEW

NUTM invites applications from highly qualified and dedicated individuals to teach undergraduate courses in Economics. As an adjunct faculty member in the Economics department, you will play a vital role in shaping our students' understanding of economic principles and theories. This position is part-time and offers flexibility in scheduling.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Course development and instruction

• Teach undergraduate courses in Economics, covering macroeconomics.
• Plan and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and activities that promote critical thinking and application of economic concepts.
• Assist students in understanding economic theories and principles through effective explanations, examples, and real-world applications.
• Develop and evaluate course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and assessments, to ensure alignment with learning objectives.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement, diversity, and intellectual curiosity.

Mentorship and student evaluation

• Provide timely and constructive feedback on student assignments and assessments, fostering their intellectual growth and development. Research and departmental duties
• Stay current with economic research and industry trends to incorporate relevant and up-to-date information into teaching.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and assessment activities to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Economics program.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE

• A Minimum of a master's degree in Economics or a related field. A doctoral degree is preferred.
• Solid understanding of microeconomic and macroeconomic principles and their applications.
• Experience in teaching undergraduate economics courses is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with economic analysis tools and software, such as EViews, Stata, or R.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively convey complex economic concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic setting.
