    Construction Supervisor

    Report to: Construction Manager

    Report to (functional) : Construction Manager

    Area: Logistics

    Main Purpose
    Overseeing the activities at a construction/rehabilitation job site and provide timely reports to supervisor of ALIMA according to ALIMA protocols in order to maintain the facilities in perfect conditions and collaborate in the development of the mission.

    Accountabilities
    The Construction Supervisor must perform diverse tasks to ensure that construction projcts are meeting deadlines and being completed in a safe and timely manner. He is also esure that all equipment is working properly.

    Manage Construction Teams

    • From on-site visits to project scheduling and team building,
    • Ensure that teams are working together with the sole objective of completing a project while adhering to deadlines, specifications and codes.
    • Participate in selecting specific contractors and sub-contractors and ensuring that these individuals are working well together.

    Adhere to Safety and Building Practices and Codes

    • Keep track of the progress of each project to ensure that it is not only meeting the specifcations of the architect, but that personnel are maintaining safe work practices and following state and local guidelines concerning building projects.
    • Hold regular meetings with workers to review worksite safety.
    • Communicate with his/her manager about compliance with building codes and assist with on-site inspections.

    Create Project Plans and Reports

    • Participate in developing contracts,
    • Draw budget and cost estimation statements, preparing project bids and submitting progress reports.
    • Work closely with the Construction manager in creating original project specifications and in making any changes to these specifications during the construction process.

    Requirements

    Education
    Diploma in Civil Engineering, architecture design or equivalent

    Experience
    At least three years of field experience

    Languages  
    English, Hausa and Kanuri.

    Knowledge

    • Good knowledge of any architecture software
    • Essential computer literacy (word, excel)
