Seeking an experienced and mature South African Plantation Manager to run a plantation businesses in Nigeria, West Africa.
 
As the success applicant, you will be responsible for managing a plantation, comprising 11 400ha of a 35,000ha concession, of which has been newly acquired. It is expected that the incumbent will oversee and manage the planting of 10,000ha of palm oil from 2016. This, together with the establishment of a 60t/hr oil mill in the next 2 years, this is a unique and exciting opportunity for a self-sufficient, commercially astute person who thrives on challenges.
 
Requirements:

Qualification & Experience

1. Senior management experience in the agro-industrial sector with a track record of commercial success on the African continent.
2. Experience of palm oil and rubber cultivation is a plus, although experience of similar plantation crops is acceptable.
3. Insight into the functioning of agro industrial factories
4. A strong set of commercial skills and experience of working with unionized labour is sought.
5. An enthusiastic self-starter with proven leadership and diplomatic skills, high energy levels and maturity.
6. Able to adapt to a remote location and the character to embrace challenges with enthusiasm and integrity is ideal. 

Responsibilities: 

• Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the company in West Africa, the person will be responsible for the management of this particular operation.
• Assume full responsibility for optimizing production capabilities in a commercially astute way
• Oversee the overall growth of the business
• Build shareholder value and interact & manage stakeholders that include government
• Communities and major customers.
• Implement tight financial controls in a volatile commodity market
• Assume accountability for all workforce issues and take overall responsibility for the management of this plantation, in collaboration with other managers, both on and off this operation.
