    WASH Officer - Behavioural Change Communication

    Location: Bade, Yobe State

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Bade,Yobe state and reports to the WASH Sector Manager.
    • The WASH Officer- Behavior Change Communication will be responsible for the development of behavior change communication for hygiene and sanitation strategies, tools and activities related to the project.

    Task and Responsibilities

    • In coordination with Sector Manager, based on project proposal and LFA, define the list of behaviors to be promoted though the project and the audience audiences to be targeted.
    • In coordination with Sector Manager, based on secondary data, surveys results and observation evaluate the level of practice of the behavior for each audience.
    • In coordination with Sector Manager, identify main gaps in term of practice adoption in order to set priorities.
    • Ensure that formative research activities (ex:  BA, FGD, Interviews, PRA tools or case study) are conducted understands why behaviors are not being adopted and to inform activity content, Tools/IEC and approach design, within the general guidance given by the proposal.
    • Based on formative research results, set specific BCC goals (possible to use DBC/bridge to activity or other BCC methodologies).
    • Develop a curriculum of activity and communication tools to achieve the BCC goals and address important determinants of behavior change identified in the formative research.
    • Assess available mass media available for BCC and propose a selection of relevant ones to develop initiatives through media, according to audience preferences and access to these media and budget constraint.
    • Ensure the content and the key hygiene messages are coherent with nutrition and health promotion recommendations (IYCF in particular, as well as integrate nutrition key messages within WASH activities when relevant).

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree/HND in Public Health, Social Science and other related fields.
    • Minimum of three years experience in supervising hygiene promotion activities and BCC.
    • Experience in conducting formative research ( BA, FGD, PRA tools and qualitative interview, etc)
    • Microsoft Office software Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
    • Excellent report writing skills.
    • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Fluency in Hausa and English.
    • Commitment to Action Against Hunger mission, values and policy.
    • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local economy.

    Media and Communications Officer

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Abuja, FCT and reports directly to the Senior Advocacy and Protection Advisor. The Media and Communication Officer is required to provide support to the formulation and implementation of the organization's communication programs in liaison with stakeholders, partners, media and the communities to ensure effective communication.

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Develop media and communication plan, tools and materials to increase awareness on AAH programming to various stakeholders.
    • Maintain and organize communication data and materials.
    • Documentation of lessons learnt from the various programme interventions by consolidating regular updates, reports, case studies, briefs and wide range of IEC materials.
    • Promote advocacy efforts by developing advocacy messages, materials, tools as well as multimedia content.
    • Collect evidence based information and testimonies that AAH can use to inform programming and advocacy.
    • Liaise with media outlets to package information and ensure external visibility with appropriate information and messages targeting a wider audience, including preparation of talking points, media briefs and press releases.
    • Document and share good practice from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of program activities at the local community and state levels.
    • Perform additional activities as requested by the Senior Advocacy and Protection Advisor, and other members of the coordination team.
    • Liaise with media outlets to ensure external visibility with appropriate information and messages targeting a wider audience, including preparation of talking points, media briefs and press releases.

    Position Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications & Journalism, Media Studies, relevant discipline.
    • At least 1- 2 years of relevant experience in journalism, media relations or communications.
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Good photography and videography skills.
    • Intermediate knowledge of video and photo editing softwares.
    • Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word) and graphic designing
    • Experience in designing and leading media campaign or communication strategies.
    • Previous experience in the humanitarian or development context
    • Familiar with Northeast Nigeria context.
    • Fluency in Hausa or Kanuri (written and spoken) will be an asset.
    • Experience in handling of web-based management systems.

    Information and Communications Technology Officer

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno State and reports directly to the Logistics Manager and technically reports to the ICT Manager.
    • The ICT Officer is the focal point for ICT related activities and the ICT Officer is required to provide support for the the successfully implementation of Action Against Hunger programmes in Borno State.

    Task and Responsibilities

    • Supervise equipment repair and installation by supplier and liaise with ICT suppliers (computer, phone, HF/VHF).
    • Action Against Hunger Nigeria mission has well maintained, up-to-standard IT, HF/VHF radio, satellite, internet, mobile phone and GPS equipment.
    • Maintenance and troubleshooting of the ICT hardware, software, networks and peripheries.
    • Update equipment tracker with new ICT equipment and every time there is a change in user.
    • Maintain a laptop maintenance log and ensure all staff have well-functioning ICT equipment.
    • Maintain mobile phone account list and liaise with the Finance team regarding opening and closing phone accounts.
    • Manage subscriptions  and liaise with ISP, documentations, authorizations from government.
    • Ensure the compliance of standard Action Against Hunger ICT policy communication procedures.
    • Explain the maintenance tasks to be carried out regularly (clean-up, defragmentation, etc.).
    • Other tasks as assigned.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Engineering with at least 2 years working experience in the IT sector, or IT support in the humanitarian/developmental sector.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Approachable, diplomatic, able to maintain confidentiality and able to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams in a complex, multi-site work environment.
    • Fluent in English and Hausa.
    • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, rigorous, self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently.
    • Capacity to analyze, synthesis and report of large amounts of information.
    • Willingness to travel to field sites.
    • Previous experience working for NGOs, particularly international and/or health related NGOs is an asset.
