Job Overview / Summary
- Under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager, the Stabilization Center Doctor will be responsible for all clinical aspects of the nutrition project at Nana Asma’u Stabilization Center in Yola, while also supporting other technical and administrative nutrition functions.
- The role requires a high level of integrity, transparency, and commitment to effective project implementation.
- The Doctor will lead and oversee all stabilization center interventions, working closely with IRC nutrition staff, Ministry of Health incentive workers, Nutrition Officers, and Nutrition Nurses.
- The position reports to the sector through the Nutrition Manager.
Major Responsibilities
Clinical Management:
- The stabilization center doctor will provide overall clinical leadership in the management of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) with medical complications in line with national and WHO guidelines.
- He / She will conduct thorough medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of admitted patients.
- Prescribe and monitor appropriate therapeutic feeding (F-75, F-100) and routine medications for the SAM admitted clients.
- Monitor the availability and proper use of therapeutic supplies (RUTF, F-75, F-100) and essential drugs.
- Report stock levels and prevent stock-outs through timely communication with supply chain teams.
- Manage medical complications such as infections, dehydration, anemia, and other co-morbidities.
- Ensure proper implementation of the 10-step protocol for inpatient management of SAM.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of patient data, admissions, discharges, and outcomes.
- Compile and submit routine reports in line with program requirements.
- Support data quality checks and use data for decision-making and program improvement.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures within the stabilization center.
- Promote hygiene and sanitation practices among staff and caregivers.
- Provide counseling to caregivers on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and home care practices.
- Support follow-up mechanisms and caregiver understanding of treatment plans.
Program Development:
- Contribute to donor reporting as required.
- Ensure budgets are utilized effectively and efficiently, in compliance with IRC financial procedures and donor requirements.
Staff Performance Management, Learning & Development:
- Required for all positions with supervisory responsibility, if special considerations are needed (e.g. remote management), make this additive to the base language here.
- Monitor and supervise MoH incentive staff to ensure tasks are performed effectively and in line with their job descriptions and provide timely written feedback.
- Coach, train, supervise, and mentor direct reports by setting clear expectations, establishing annual performance objectives, delivering regular constructive feedback, and conducting documented semi-annual performance reviews.
- Hold regular, structured one-on-one meetings with each direct report, at least monthly.
- Develop and implement continuous education programs for Nutrition staff, including formal training and on-the-job capacity building for nutrition personnel.
- Design and implement measurable staff development plans that promote on-the-job learning, strengthen technical capacity, encourage knowledge sharing, and support career growth.
- Ensure full compliance with IRC Global HR Policies and Procedures and consistently model high standards of adherence to all relevant policies and regulations.
Coordination & Representation:
- Represent the program in engagements with local government authorities, partner organizations, and other relevant stakeholders as required.
- In coordination with the Nutrition Manager, build and sustain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including government actors, international and local NGOs, and other partners.
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings related to the Nutrition program, ensuring IRC priorities are effectively communicated and integrated.
- Support the organization of and participation in field visits for both internal and external stakeholders when necessary.
- Work closely with other sectors—such as Women’s Protection & Empowerment, Child Protection, Protection and Rule of Law, and Environmental Health—to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated package of services that meets community needs.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution, with strong public Health background, a Master’s Degree n public health is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- Additional training in pediatrics, nutrition, or public health is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years post NYSC experience in clinical medicine and public health.
- Experience in supervising nutrition staff at the stabilization center health facility.
- Previous experience in Nutrition programs and NGO experience is preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in inpatient treatment of severe acute malnutrition with complications.
- Experience in Nutrition in community-based programs.
- Training and experience on treatment of acute malnutrition.
- Experience in managing Nutrition program in complex emergencies.
Demonstrated Technical Skills:
- Good communication skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the social, political and ethical issues surrounding program delivery.
- Ability to work well with others and to respect staff, subcontractors, consultants and recipients of assistance.

Demonstrated Managerial / Leadership Competencies:
- Oversee the effective implementation of quality stabilization center program activities.
- Regularly monitor staff performance in line with their job descriptions and provide timely, documented feedback.
- Develop continuous learning initiatives for Nutrition staff, including organizing and delivering training and on-the-job capacity-building sessions.
- Support planning and implementing the project activities and outputs at the field level to ensure the project achieves its objective of improving access to quality Nutrition services
- Track the performance of the project activities and targets against the expected results and advise on implementation process to ensure the project is progressing towards attaining its targets in each LGA.
- Conduct periodic analysis of progress of the health projects at the LGA level and promote learning and sharing of best practices and lessons learnt through documentation
- Identifying program gaps in the supported health facilities services with immediate solution for further necessary steps to address those gaps.
- Provide capacity building and on-job coaching to Facility staff on Antenatal care, delivery care, postnatal care, family planning counseling, STI counseling and treatment and post-abortion care in supported facilities.
- In line with the communication strategies, ensure visibility of the project and project strategies at field level
- Support collection of stories and photographs that demonstrate the positive impact of the project.
Languages:
- Fluent in written / spoken English.
- Ability to speak local languages Hausa will be added advantage.
Computer / Other Tech Requirements:
- Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Competency in the use of software (e.g. Commcare, Kobo collect).

Job Overview / Summary
- Based in Maiduguri, Nigeria the Grants Manager will provide grant management, business development and reporting support across the Nigeria portfolio.
- The Grants Manager will work closely with program, M&E finance, operations and senior management team (SMT) staff to ensure quality management of both pre and post award grants functions.
- The Grants Manager will support donor compliance, timely reporting, high quality proposal development, project document filing, preparing donor briefs and donor / internal visibility.
- The position holder will be supervised by the Senior Grants Coordinator and will work closely with other grants, partnerships, and communications managers.
Major Responsibilities
Information management:
- Act as custodian of documentation of institutional knowledge and program activities in coordination with relevant sector supervisors and coordinators.
- Maintain comprehensive electronic files for programs, and ensure IRC colleagues and have access to relevant records and information.
Donor relations and communications:
- Liaise with donors and potential donors, and other operational partners, including through attendance at meetings, and representing IRC and IRC’s interests by maintaining positive and constructive relations.
- In coordination with relevant colleagues, respond to requests from donors for compliance information and respond to donor compliance questions as needed.
- Ensure that relevant staff members are aware of all donor communications, changes in regulations, and meetings or events.
- Facilitate and participate in donor visits and / or meetings.
- Develop external communication materials including factsheets and program updates.
Compliance:
- Maintain up to date comprehensive knowledge of donor guidelines relevant to the Nigeria portfolio, including but not limited to: USAID, FCDO, ECHO, UNOCHA.
- Provide training to IRC staff on compliance and donor-specific compliance requirements.
- Closely monitor grants for internal or donor compliance issues, and flag concerns in a timely manner.
Grant management and business development:
- With the support of the Senior Grants Coordinator, coordinate the development of quality proposals and narrative reports with relevant teams, including acting as lead writer when necessary.
- Liaise with HQ units (Regional Unit, Awards Management Unit, Technical Units) to ensure proposals meet internal standards and are responsive to donor requirements.
- Support program staff to assess funding opportunities in line with IRC Nigeria’s strategic objectives and the local context, advising on these as required.
- Work with program coordinators and managers to coordinate the timely development of high quality new funding proposals and reports.
- Work closely with other members of the grants unit to proactively support grants management processes across the portfolio.
- Monitor and support the use of grant/project management tools to ensure accurate tracking of opportunities, reporting and programmatic adjustments through the project life cycle.
- Provide technical guidance on IRC and donor regulations to ensure compliance across IRC Nigeria, proactively raising and resolving issues.
- Manage all reporting deadlines, and coordinate and consolidate reports as necessary to ensure documents are of the highest quality and in line with donor requirements.
- Act as a focal point for HQ grants administration and compliance colleagues, including maintaining submissions on IRC’s online opportunity management tracking system (OTIS).
- Contribute proactively to Project Cycle Meetings in collaboration with relevant project leads to ensure timely, quality implementation of project.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Grants Coordinator.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in international affairs, development, international political economy or other relevant subject.
Work Experience:
- 2-3 years working in grants management and proposal/ business development/ design.
Demonstrated Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of donor compliance regulations (BHA, USAID, ECHO, FCDO, GAC, etc).
- Proven previous successful experience developing projects, writing proposals and donor reports.
- Good communicator with strong organizational, time management and analytical skills.
- Strong writing and editing skills with close attention to detail
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures but also use own initiative, meet deadlines, and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
Demonstrated Managerial / Leadership Competencies:
