    Principal Geochemist

    Job Purpose

    • To generate new regional exploration targets/projects and assess new opportunities for the company using geochemical exploration techniques.
    • The role has overall accountability for supporting the generation and execution of exploration projects using geochemical techniques, coordinating the collection and analysis of all soil, stream sediments, rocks, drill core, drill chips sampling programmes.

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment to comply with both legal requirements and the company policy.
    • Lead the development of geochemical sampling protocols, analytical suites, QAQC, interpretation of geochemical data to understand geological and mineral formation processes, and supervise sampling programmes.
    • Creating global, regional and local geochemical mineral prospectivity maps for all key mineral commodities the company has interest in.
    • Compiling and analysing geochemical exploration data, to allow informed technical exploration and business development decisions.
    • Generation of new project opportunities from analysing geochemical technical data and mineral belts reviews.
    • Anchor operational excellence across the exploration teams, through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life, especially in the adoption and application of industry’s best, efficient and most cost-effective mineral exploration targeting techniques.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Professional Geologist designation with a BSc (Hons) in geology and an MSc degree in geochemistry or related geoscience.
    • Must have at least 10 years of experience in exploration with significant portion of it in Greenfields exploration and field experience of high-value minerals including copper and other base metals; gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals; rare earth and energy minerals.
    • Strong geoscientist with in-depth knowledge of geochemical and geological exploration methods and their applications in mineral resource targeting.
    • Good knowledge about ore forming systems and exploration models.
    • Proficient in data analysis software GIS (e.g. ArcGIS), drillhole and geochemical analysis (e.g. Geosoft Target, ioGAS), and data management software (e.g. DAP, Datashed, acQuire).
    • Knowledge of different geochemical data types and their significance in exploration
    • International/Africa experience in diverse geological environments.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, presentation and authoring of technical reports

    Main Interface:
    Internal:

    • Manager and Peers: Head of Exploration; Exploration Manager; Mineral Resources Manager; Principal Geologist; Principal Geophysicist: Provide updates on project generation, collaborate on strategy and alignment with the company’s strategy, receive inputs and action decisions as required.
    • Direct reports: None.
    • Indirect report: Maintain consistent contact for alignment, support, generation and execution of all exploration activities and feedback.

    External:

    • Government (Geological Survey & Mining Cadastre Departments: liaison and networking for geo-data acquisition and mineral intelligence updates)
    • Exploration Managers and Snr. Geoscientists of other Mining and Exploration Firms: Networking, collaboration, and benchmarking against industry’s best practices.
    • Geological Consultants, Contractors and Organisations: collaborate and manage for specialised expertise in addressing specific technical challenges and needs.

    Key Challenges:

    • Acquisition and integration of relevant adequate geo-data sets to create value for the company in diverse geological and geographical environments.
    • Adoption of cost effective and efficient mineral targeting techniques, management and availability of resources to ensure a quality exploration project portfolio is built and maintained within budget.

    Mineral Resource Manager

    Job Purpose

    • To undertake and collate AIG’s Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves estimation and reporting; and participate in due diligence reviews.
    • The role has overall accountability for estimation and timely reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves in compliance to the Group’s standards and chosen international codes such as JORC, NI43-101 and SAMREC codes, ensuring accuracy in the estimation of orebodies grade and resource tonnages using statistical and geostatistical methods.

    Principle Accountabilities

    • Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment to comply with both legal requirements and the company policy.
    • Database design and input validation.
    • QAQC validation.
    • Modelling of orebodies and geology.
    • Mineral Resource estimation.
    • Competent Person's sign off of Mineral resource estimations
    • Competent Person technical report writing.
    • Provide leadership in Mineral Resource/Reserve/Mine production reconciliation studies and due diligence investigations (internal and external, as well as local and abroad).
    • Anchor operational excellence across the exploration teams, through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life, especially in the adoption and application of industry’s best, efficient and most cost-effective mineral resource management standards.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Professional Geologist designation and Competent Person (CP) in Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation and reporting in multiple mineral commodities
    • Must possess a BSc (Hons) in geology and an MSc/MEng or equivalent statistical and geostatistical training.
    • Must have minimum 15 years geology/mining related experience of which of 7 years must be in geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation of high-value minerals including copper and other base metals; gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals; rare earth and energy minerals, and bulk mineral commodities such as iron-ore and coal.
    • Strong geoscientist extensive geological orebody modelling and estimation experience with high proficiency in softwares such as Datamine Studio RM, Supervisor, Strat3D, Leapfrog, and data management software (e.g. DAP, Datashed, acQuire).
    • Good knowledge of ore forming systems, exploration models and structural controls to mineralisations.
    • International/Africa experience in diverse geological environments.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, presentation and authoring of technical reports.

    Exploration Geologist

    Job Purpose

    • To execute exploration projects within country.
    • The role has responsibility for the execution of all exploration activities on a given project including the generation of quality data and maintaining exploration budgets on the project.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment to comply with both legal requirements and the company policy.
    • Execute exploration projects and ensure standard operating procedures and technical standards are implemented and followed.
    • Conduct exploration activities including soil sampling, geological mapping and sampling, supervising drilling, drillcore/chip logging and sampling, basic geological modelling to achieve the exploration goals on time and within budget.
    • Utilise geological software to analyse geological/geochemical/geophysical/drillhole data to develop geological models and create maps to guide exploration.
    • Active generation of quality and adequate data according to the data management protocols and standards for reporting of mineral resources to the company’s chosen international reporting code (JORC).
    • Manage timeous internal and external exploration/geological reporting mandates.
    • Mentor, train and develop geological assistants.
    • Adopt operational excellence across all exploration activities, through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    • Must possess a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Geology, M.Sc Degree in exploration geology or a related a geoscience field is advantageous
    • At least 4 years of field experience, 2 of which must be in a executing greenfields exploration activities over a range of mineral commodities.
    • Good knowledge of mineral exploration techniques and their applications.
    • Experience in diverse geological environments is advantageous.
    • Good communication skills, oral, written and presentation.
    • Professional and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
    • Good at mandatory record keeping, exploration documentation, and developing and authoring technical reports.

    Senior Resource Geologist

    • To plan and execute exploration projects within the country.
    • The role has overall accountability for the execution of all exploration activities on a given project, including the management of near-mine, brownfields and greenfields exploration projects; management and leading exploration teams, contractors and consultants; and general management of exploration budgets on the project.

    • At least 8 years of field experience, 2 of which must be in a senior exploration role managing greenfields exploration activities over a wide range of mineral commodities.
    • In-depth knowledge of mineral exploration techniques and their applications.
    • International/Africa experience in diverse geological environments is advantageous.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral, written and presentation.
    • Professional and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
    • Strong experience in mandatory record keeping, exploration documentation, and developing and authoring technical reports.
