    Senior Resource Geologist

    Job Purpose

    • To undertake and collate AIG’s Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves estimation and reporting; and participate in due diligence reviews.
    • The role has responsibility for geological modelling and estimation of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves in compliance to the Group’s standards and chosen international codes such as JORC, NI43-101 and SAMREC codes, ensuring accuracy in the estimation of orebodies grade and resource tonnages using statistical and geostatistical methods.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Ensure safety, health and wellbeing of employees and equipment to comply with both legal requirements and the company policy.
    • Geo-data input and validation.
    • QAQC validation.
    • Modelling of geology, mineralisation and orebodies.
    • Mineral Resource estimation.
    • Drafting of Competent Person’s technical report.
    • Participating in Mineral Resource/Reserve/Mine production reconciliation studies and due diligence investigations (internal and external, as well as local and abroad).
    • Promotion of operational excellence across the exploration teams, through continuous improvement initiatives and establishment of quality as a way of life, especially in the adoption and application of industry’s best, efficient and most cost-effective mineral resource management standards.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    • Professional Geologist designation and Competent Person (CP) in Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation and reporting in multiple mineral commodities (or at least working towards that)
    • Must possess a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Geology and with statistical and geostatistical training. M.Sc / M.Eng Degree or equivalent is preferred.
    • Must have minimum 10 years geology/mining related experience of which of 4 years must be in geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation of high-value minerals including copper and other base metals; gold, silver, platinum and other precious metals; rare earth and energy minerals, and bulk mineral commodities such as iron-ore and coal.
    • Strong geoscientist extensive geological orebody modelling and estimation experience with high proficiency in softwares such as Datamine Studio RM, Supervisor, Strat3D, Leapfrog, and data management software (e.g. DAP, Datashed, acQuire).
    • Good knowledge of ore forming systems, exploration models and structural controls to mineralisations.
    • International/Africa experience in diverse geological environments.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, presentation and authoring of technical reports.
