    Medical Doctor

    JOB PURPOSE

    • Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Medical Doctor will be responsible for providing professional medical care to patients/beneficiaries, ensuring quality clinical case management in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves applying medical expertise, supporting health facilities and mobile clinic activities, strengthening referral systems, and contributing to improved health outcomes of the target population in line with INTERSOS standards and protocols.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage health conditions in accordance with validated protocols.
    • Provide outpatient and/or inpatient consultations and prescribe appropriate treatment in supported health facilities and mobile clinics.
    • Ensure adherence to universal precautions and infection prevention and control (IPC) standards at all times.
    • Respect professional confidentiality while managing patient information and cases.
    • Assess and arrange referrals for patients requiring advanced care beyond INTERSOS’s capacity.
    • Support in responding to health and nutrition emergencies and contribute to disaster preparedness planning.
    • Promote maternal, infant, and young child feeding (MIYCF) best practices in health facilities.
    • Actively participate in rapid health and nutrition assessments and surveys.
    • Provide input on staff performance, raise personnel concerns, and support solutions in collaboration with supervisors.
    • Contribute to the recruitment and capacity building of health and nutrition staff as appropriate.
    • Supervise the use and accountability of medical materials, equipment, and supplies.
    • Identify opportunities for program development and provide recommendations to improve service delivery.
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor in line with program needs.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Professional Requirements:

    • MBBS degree with a valid practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
    • Minimum of 2 years post-graduate clinical experience.
    • Proven experience in leadership and supervision roles.

    Clinical Supervisor

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Clinical Supervisor will be responsible for leading the development of an integrated Health team Approach with the aim of attaining the delivery of high-quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to vastly improve the health condition of the target population. In Collaboration with the Nutrition and INTERSOS Vaccination team incorporate nutrition and vaccination activities in designated local government areas.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Applies medical knowledge & skill in carrying out outpatient and/or inpatient consultations, prescribing necessary treatment respecting protocols in targeted health facilities and in mobile clinic activities.
    • Conducts health and nutritional surveillance in the programme sites, including host community and internally displaced people (IDPs) based on agreed methodologies including surveys, process monitoring, SMART, SQUEAC and other rapid methods.
    • Works with the field-based health, SRH and nutrition staff (Intersos and MoH) to establish, implement and monitor all health and nutrition project activities.
    • Assists in response and management of any health, SRH and nutrition emergency and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
    • Represents Intersos at relevant meetings with stakeholders at LGA level.
    • Provides on job training/coaching to ensure Intersos activities are implemented in accordance with accepted protocols, guidelines, and procedures.
    • Collaborates with the pharmacy assistants to ensure timely requisition of drugs, medical supplies, and consumables for the health facilities under his/her supervision.
    • Oversees implementation of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition in areas under his/her supervision ensuring all aspects of the nutrition intervention are efficiently implemented.
    • Identifies opportunities for program development and collaborates with relevant stakeholders for the same.
    • Integrates INTERSOS Health/Nutrition activities with Covid 19 vaccination programs in assigned local government areas in collaboration with COVAX LGA supervisors.
    • Coordinates with team members on development and implementation of work plans.
    • Responsible for timely collection and compilation of project data from field locations.
    • Ensures all medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are always followed and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Professional Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of surgery MBBS from an accredited institution; post-graduate degree in relevant field will be and additional advantage.
    • At least 3 years post qualifying experience in a similar environment; experience in implementation of health and nutrition program will be an additional advantage.
    • Possession of a valid practicing license & certificate.
    • At least 2 years post-qualifying experience in a similar environment/Humanitarian context.

    • Fluency in English, Kanuri and Hausa will be considered a plus

    Midwife

    JOB PURPOSE

    • The main objective is to provide sexual and reproductive health care to young women, pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to national obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a supervisor/specialist doctor, to ensure their health conditions and avoid complications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC 1 and CEmONC 2), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with INTERSOS Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardized protocols.
    • Where PMTCT is implemented, ensuring implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling based on national guidelines.
    • Collaborating with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
    • Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
    • Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to National specifications.
    • Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
    • Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
    • Properly following up all new born babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
    • Ensuring patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Professional Requirements:

    • Diploma in Midwifery and Nursing from an accredited institution is desirable
    • Possession of a valid practicing license
    • At least 2 years post-qualifying experience in a similar environment/Humanitarian context

    • Leadership, people management, and development, teamwork, and cooperation
    • Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards, and best practices
