Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation of the Tom Brown Supplementary Feeding Program (TB-SFP) in accordance with program guidelines and objectives.
• Ensure that beneficiaries receive the Tom Brown supplement as per the program’s distribution plan.
• Screen and identify eligible beneficiaries for the program, ensuring they meet the necessary criteria.
• Maintain accurate records of beneficiary information, including admissions, discharges, and follow-up visits.
• Provide basic nutrition education to caregivers and beneficiaries on the proper use of Tom Brown supplement and promote good feeding practices and hygiene among beneficiaries.
• Assist in the distribution of Tom Brown supplement, ensuring fair and timely distribution to beneficiaries.
• Monitor the distribution process to prevent any irregularities or issues and collect and record data on beneficiary attendance, supplement distribution, and any issues arising during sessions.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, challenges, and achievements.
• Liaise with community leaders and Tom Brown facilitator, CNMs to mobilize beneficiaries and promote the program and address any community concerns or issues related to the program if necessary/report to your supervisor. 
• Work closely with other program staff including Tom Brown facilitator, CNMs, to ensure the smooth operation of the SFP.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to program planning and improvement.
• Supervise the vendor\'s storage and handling of Tom Brown supplement, ensuring proper stock levels and storage conditions.

Requirements:

• Certificate in Nursing, Health Education or a trained community health worker certificate.
• Three years, minimum, of experience working in nutrition programmes within government or NGO setup.
• Ability to cope and work under pressure in the field site.
• Good oral and written English as well as local languages (Kanuri, Hausa, is an added Advantage).
• High flexibility and ability to work without close supervision.
• Ability to work for long hours especially in hard-to-reach locations within facility catchment areas.
• Experience working with the local communities.

Job purpose:

The post holder is responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive package of CMAM and Tom Brown program in the assigned location in collaboration with the Nutrition Project Manager, as well as the Health and Hygiene and sanitation staff in the location. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support facilitators/health workers to refer severe acute malnutrition among children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers according to the Ministry of Health Nigeria IMAM guidelines.
• Ensure that Facilitators are supported with equipment, reporting tools and other logistical needs necessary for screening, management and referral of malnutrition among the targeted beneficiaries
• Strengthen the linkages between community-based health structures for early case identification, referral and management of Severe Acute Malnutrition.
• Liaise with the district local government and other partners to ensure to organize and conduct Village Health Teams monthly/quarterly meetings
• Ensure the implementation of mother support groups approach in the areas of implementation by supporting the Nutrition Assistant and community Based Facilitators in the identification of care groups, selection of house hold support groups and behavior change promotion among the communities.
• Organize a capacity development action plan for Facilitators
• Assist in the development and dissemination of relevant IEC materials on nutrition activities such as IYCF.
• Develop concept notes for the drama groups and community dialogues for community sensitization
• Strengthen the link between referrals and follow up of beneficiaries from community to health facilities
• Assist in mentoring and coaching of health workers on treatment and management of acute malnutrition in accordance with IMAM guidelines and protocol.
• Participate in development of IECs materials on nutrition sensitization
• Participate in beneficiary identification and rapid nutrition assessment.
• Oversee the collection, handling, analysis and reporting of data related to nutrition screening, client follow up.
• Prepare quality weekly and monthly reports in standard reporting format, project progress, success stories and lessons learned during project implementation.

• Ensure regular and timely reporting among the assistants on the project activities in the catchment area.

• Organize and facilitate regular meetings with assistants, assess their performance and provide regular feedback on the matters discussed

• Ensure that staff under your supervision develop quarterly activity workplans and adhere to them
• Identify training needs of staff under your supervision and suggest an appropriate training plan
• Update LGA work plans, individual work plans and share with line manager.
• Use appropriate attendance sheet on-job coaching sessions, workshops/meetings and trainings and share a copy with line manager.
• Mobilize communities and community leaders to participate in smiling Hearts’ Initiative’s project, community activities and organize regular community meetings to address areas of program improvement
• Attend interagency meetings and field visits as required by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• BSc Health, Nutrition, Nursing or related field with a minimum of two year relevant experience for BSc holder and three years related experience for Diploma holder.
• Understanding of community management of acute malnutrition
• Computer skills knowledge and applications especially Ms Word and Excel
• Experience in planning and organizing activities in a variety of locations
• Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach local staff and community workers.
• Experience of providing hands-on in-service training
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and representational and communications skills are essential, and a team-oriented work style is a necessity.

• The Education Officer is responsible for supervising implementation and monitoring of project activities in the field, managing Education Assistants, and reporting progress to supervisors.

Job Purpose:

Under the guidance of the National Coordinator, the Project Manager will ensure it is implemented in a coordinated, harmonized and aligned manner, in line with donor requirements and commitments.

Projects Coordination & Management:

• Establish, maintain and strengthen linkages in the management and implementation of the project.
• Create and sustain positive working relationships with partners and other stakeholders.
• Plan and coordinate LGEA, and State level engagements with partners and key stakeholders.
• Monitor and ensure timely and quality reports are submitted as per the reporting requirements.

Operational Planning and implementation:.

• Overseeing the implementation and budget performance in line with the project plans and budgets.
• Effectively support the projects staff in developing weekly, monthly and annual plans,

Finance and Budget Management:

• Ensure to conduct budget monitoring, suggest necessary revisions and prepare draft reports.
• Ensure that the budget monitoring reports are responded to in time and with accurate information.
• Working closely with Education team to ensure that staff are well guided, supported and their capacity built in sound management procedures.

Program and Financial Reporting:

• Preparation of timely and high quality progress and end of projects narrative and financial reports which are in accordance to the donor reporting schedule and formats.
• Review all program financial reports ensuring that donor guidelines have been followed and high standard met, prior to submission to management.
• Organize and facilitate quarterly follow ups and progress review meetings to address key performance issues from the reports.
• Overall Budget Vs Actual expenditure analysis and variance explanations.

Internal and external engagements:

• Ensuring that the program experience is represented and given recognition at stakeholder meetings, workshops, donor, networks and any other engagements.
• Develop and maintain regular channels of communication with partners and key stakeholders at all levels (Community, LGEA and State).

Wash engagement

• He/she ensures that people have access to drinking water and in sufficient quantities.
• He/she develops and promotes access to sanitation infrastructures at household and/or community level.
• He/she coordinates the hygiene promotion, and activities to help fight sanitary and water-borne diseases, and ensures that a water management system is set up.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

• Education Professional with a B.A./B.Sc Ed. and or master’s degree in education or equivalent.
• Experience in managing integrated programmes across different thematic areas such as education, child protection, child rights governance, disaster risk reduction and climate change. 

Experience and Skills

Essential:

• At least 5 years of accrued working experience in program implementation with a minimum of 3 years in a management level position in an international NGO.
• Experience in strategic thinking and planning skills, be able to set priorities, prepare manageable plans and to evaluate progress.
• Experience of working with local partners and Local Government and State Authorities in the Northeast Nigeria in Education, Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, or Child Protection is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.

Job Purpose 

The Project Manager will oversee the activities, Administrative, HR and Logistics component of the project, ensuring operations quality, strategic programming and planning, as well as strategic growth and strong external and internal representation and advocacy.

S/he must be able to motivate and lead a diverse staff as well as effectively oversee the activities, budgets and partnerships.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

Promote beneficiary participation of IDP communities.

• Ensure collaboration with the relevant CCCM/Shelter actors in the planning, development of sites, ensuring that site design support protection and assistance of men, women, boys and girls;
• Ensure regular site needs assessment and gap analysis are conducted with all CCCM/Shelter stakeholders in the camps;
• Collaborate with M&E department in the development of assessment tools and reporting about CCCM/SHELTER program related activities
• Develop and update agreed response strategies for the camps/ Communities, including “exit”/transition strategy for site closures and action plans for the cluster and ensuring that these are adequately reflected in overall country strategies.
• Support Camp Management staff to conduct contingency planning based on worst-case and most likely scenarios in terms of population movements;
• Prepare project procurement plans and order for materials in a timely manner.
• Responsible for planning, implementing, following-up and supervising SHI assessment, verification, shelter, construction and NFI activities.
• Maintain close coordination with all relevant departments and the Shelter & NFI cluster.
• Manage all Shelter & NFI Cluster responsibilities with relevant partners.
• Ensure that adequate staffing is in place for the shelter and NFI activities, and to the extent possible build local construction capacity.
• Ensure that SHIs’ financial, logistics, security and human resources policies and procedures are fully adhered to and implemented in relation to all construction activities.

​Program implementation

• Develop a work plan for construction and NFI activities and ensure progress and quality in line with applicable international standards and agreements.
• Conduct shelter and NFI assessments in different IDP and Refugees sites;
• Conduct cluster level verification activities.
• Carry out emergency NFI distributions in accordance with the Shelter & NFI cluster strategy and SHI distribution standards.
• Large-scale construction of emergency shelters/robust emergency shelters;
• Provide technical training to IDPs and refugees as well as host communities for capacity building and organize teams to construct shelter for vulnerable families;
• Provide support in supervision of contractors and suppliers, ensuring that deliveries take place according to the quantity and quality agreed.
• Ensure quality supervision of quality of work of any contractors hired for construction activities at all stages of the construction process.
• Ensure that all documentation related to shelter activities for works completed, labourer s engaged and supplies is completed in a timely manner.

​Program development

• Identify gaps with a view to generating ideas for future projects with strong beneficiary impact, both in IDP and refugee sites and in host communities.
• Develop concept notes and or proposals and budgets in close cooperation with the National Coordinator.

Reporting

• Represent SHI in all sector/ high delegation and donor meetings
• He/she should have the ability to negotiate with donors.
• Should have good knowledge of writing proposals, and program reports.
• He/she should be able to conduct stakeholder meetings with govt agencies.
• Ensure donor reports are sent timely.
• He/she should have the  ability to lead a team
• The individual should be able to facilitate training for staff on all project activities.  
• Participate in and contribute to regular nutrition coordination meetings.
• Report periodically on all relevant Shelter & NFI activities to the National Coordinator for donor reporting on monthly, interim and final reporting stages, as well as weekly activity updates.
• Report on a regular basis to sector Shelter & NFI cluster through formal reporting mechanisms and frequent informal communication.

Job Purpose.

Smiling Hearts Initiatives is currently looking to fill the role of Nutrition and Health Project Manager who will be responsible for the overall management including personnel, budget, logistics and work plans management of Nutrition/ Health project implementation.

The post holder is also in charge throughout the project life cycle, this involves effectively managing and reporting on the projects in line with its specific scope, schedule, resources, quality, risks, representation, coordination and contractual requirements. The PM will provide technical support, leadership and strategic direction to Nutrition and Health team.

Responsibilities:

TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO PROGRAM DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION:

• Ensure quality and timely field-level implementation of the Nutrition/Health program against set objectives, targets, and work plans.
• Ensure effective implementation of Tom Brown Supplementary Feeding Program (TB-SFP) across LGAs of intervention.
• He/she will work with the technical advisor to provide technical assistance as well as supportive monitoring and evaluation of Tom Brown Supplementary Feeding Program (TB-SFP) activities.
• Draft supervision guidelines to ensure quality delivery of Outpatient treatments for SAM and MAM in children under five years of age
• Mentor and train the technical advisor on nutrition/ Health teams in treatment protocols and support them.
• Supervision and provide refresher training on CMAM.
• Support regular nutrition program evaluations and rapid assessments identifying needs and making practical recommendations to address them.
• Facilitate the conducting of focus group discussions with relevant communities for feedback on program activities.
• Provide technical support expertise to the program to align field nutrition/ Education programs with SHI.
• Represent SHI in all sector/ high delegation and donor meetings

• Develop nutrition/ Health activity work plans based on the program\'s annual work plan and implement activities promptly
• Design and deliver in-house capacity training for nutrition/ Health staff of SHI.
• Participate in relevant coordination forums.
• Represent SHI nutrition and Health programming in donor meetings.
• Delivers timely quality reporting on project activities, including findings regarding the impact on individuals and communities.
