    Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (M.E.A.L.) Officer

    Job Purpose

    Under the supervision of and in regular consultation with the Programme Manager and Project Coordinator, the MEAL Officer will lead the implementation of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system. The successful candidate will ensure the collection, analysis, reporting and use of quality data to support evidence-based decision-making, donor accountability and continuous learning throughout the implementation of the BOLD ACTION Project.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies or another relevant discipline.
    2. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning systems for donor-funded development projects.
    3. Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis, reporting and database management.
    4. Experience using digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare or similar applications.
    5. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of SPSS, Power BI or other statistical software will be an added advantage.
    6. Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    1. Lead implementation of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning framework.
    2. Develop monitoring tools, indicator tracking systems and data management processes.
    3. Coordinate baseline studies, routine monitoring, surveys, assessments and end-line evaluations.
    4. Ensure timely collection, verification, analysis and reporting of quality project data.
    5. Maintain project databases and ensure data accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
    6. Produce monitoring reports, dashboards and performance summaries for management and donors.
    7. Conduct routine field monitoring visits to assess implementation quality and progress.
    8. Support project staff and partners on data collection methodologies and reporting requirements.
    9. Coordinate beneficiary feedback and accountability mechanisms.
    10. Document lessons learned, success stories and best practices for organizational learning.
    11. Support donor reporting through the provision of high-quality monitoring data and evidence.
    12. Perform any other duties assigned by the Programme Manager or Project Coordinator.

    Languages

    Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Igede, Idoma, Tiv or other local languages will be an added advantage.

    5. Ability to develop data visualization products and performance dashboards.
    6. Good understanding of donor reporting requirements and data quality standards.
    7. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in community settings.
    8. Knowledge of disability-inclusive programming and safeguarding principles will be an added advantage.
