    Project Accountant

    DUTIES:

    • Ensure the preparation of prompt, timely, and accurate financial statements for donors.
    • Review project budgets periodically and advise budget holders/PMs on potential project overruns.
    • Ensure the prompt preparation and submission of invoices to donors.
    • Coordinate assigned project audits throughout the year.
    • Ensure the prompt and accurate computation of annual budgets.
    • Ensure the prompt resolution of issues raised by Budget Officers/PMs.
    • Contribute meaningfully to IITA's overall cash flow management.
    • Advice PMs on budget burn rates to avoid overruns and ineligible expenses.
    • Support the institute’s annual audit with relevant schedules and respond to audit queries.
    • Ensure timely justification of partners' financial reports.
    • Accurately verify all partners’ expenses based on supporting documents submitted with financial reports on assigned projects.
    • Monitor budgets and ensure compliance.
    • Ensure project expenditures do not exceed the life budget.
    • Avoid ineligible overruns on each budget line.
    • Eliminate project overruns through budget monitoring and variance analysis/burn rate tracking.
    • Identify projects with overrun potential early through monthly budget monitoring reports.
    • Prepare accurate and timely overhead and CSP charges at month-end for all active projects.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATION:

    BSC/HND in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant fields of study with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment. Professional certifications in ACA, ACCA is required; Masters’ degree is an added advantage.

    COMPETENCIES:

    The ideal candidate must:

    • Have knowledge of Oracle EBS application.
    • Have a strong command of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Have strong attention to details.
    • Have experience in Project Finance Management.

    Accountant II

    DUTIES:

    • Handle donors with sensitive and special requirements.
    • Prepare error-free project financial statements for donors.
    • Coordinate assigned project external audits throughout the year.
    • Ensure timely budget uploads into the Oracle system.
    • Promptly prepare and submit invoices to donors.
    • Support the institution’s cash and receivable management.
    • Assist with the institute’s annual audit by providing relevant schedules and responding to audit queries.
    • Prepare month-end budget monitoring reports.
    • Ensure timely justification of partners’ financial reports.
    • Support the Project Finance Manager with relevant analysis for decision-making.
    • Address queries raised by donor representatives regarding submitted financial reports.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATION:

    BSC/HND in Accounting, Finance, or any other related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a well-structured environment. Professional certifications in ICAN/ACA is required.

    COMPETENCIES:

    The ideal candidate must:

    • Have knowledge of Oracle EBS.
    • Be able to use Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Be a goal setter.
    • Be a good team player, and honest.
    • Have a good attention to details.

    Accountant I

    DUTIES:

    • Prepare and review project financial reports.
    • Review partners’ financial report and prepare financial justification.
    • Attend to queries raised by Budget Officers regarding projects and fund status.
    • Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets.
    • Raise journals for necessary adjustments on various accounts and load them into Oracle.
    • Update, review, and reconcile bills receivables from donors with the total grants income of projects.
    • Support the institute’s annual audit with relevant schedules and respond to audit queries.
    • Promptly promote the month-end budget monitoring report.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

    QUALIFICATION:

    BSC/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other related field with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a well-structured environment. Professional certifications in ICAN/ACA is desirable.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • The ideal candidate must:
    • Have excellent communication skills (writing, reading, oral).
    • Have a strong analytical mind.
    • Be very good with computer applications, especially Oracle.
    • Be a good team player, and honest.
    • Have a very pleasant personality.
