Job Summary
- We're recruiting to fill the role of a Pharmacy Technician.
- The associate pharmacy technician helps make sure patients get the right medicines safely and on time.
- They work with pharmacists and other team members to prepare, package, and label prescriptions for patients seen at our clinics.
- They also help keep the pharmacy organized by checking stock levels, storing medicines properly, and keeping all records up to date.
- The technician supports smooth daily pharmacy operations by helping with basic data entry, processing prescriptions, and assisting patients politely and clearly when they have questions.
- They play an important role in keeping the pharmacy safe, clean, and well supplied so every patient receives high-quality care.
Responsibilities
Preparing and dispensing medicines:
- Help the pharmacist prepare and package medicines for patients.
- Count, measure, or pour the right amount of medicine as written in the prescription.
- Label all medicines clearly with the right name, dose, and instructions.
- Check that each medicine matches the prescription before giving it to the patient.
Processing prescriptions and records:
- Enter new prescription details into the pharmacy system quickly and accurately.
- Update patient information and refill requests when needed.
- Keep all records neat and complete in the electronic system.
- Follow privacy rules to protect patient information.
Managing stock and supplies:
- Keep track of medicines and supplies to make sure nothing runs out.
- Restock shelves when items are low and remove expired products.
- Help with counting stock and checking for any differences.
- Report shortages or damaged items to the pharmacist right away.
Packaging and labeling medicines:
- Prepare medicines using blister packs, bottles, or unit-dose packaging as needed.
- Apply correct labels showing the patient’s name, dosage, and expiry date.
- Check that labels are neat, clear, and follow all safety and legal rules.
Supporting pharmacy operations:
- Keep the pharmacy clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Assist with answering calls, handling simple patient questions, and directing customers politely.
- Help file paperwork, track deliveries, and manage simple reports.
- Work closely with pharmacists, clinic staff, and customer care teams to ensure smooth service for patients.
Promoting safety and quality:
- Report any medication errors, damaged stock, or patient complaints to the pharmacist.
- Follow all pharmacy rules for handling controlled drugs, cold-chain medicines, and disposal of expired items.
- Support safe, high-quality care by following instructions carefully and asking when unsure.
Requirements
Required:
- Certificate of Pharmacy Technician is compulsory.
- Registration with the Board of Pharmacy and current practicing license as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
- Completion or official exemption from NYSC
- 0 - 2 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Good knowledge of dispensing commonly prescribed medication.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to communicate medical concepts in clear layman language.
Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with and proficiency with technological tools including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience providing high quality patient counselling.
- Experience processing prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is accurate and complete.
- Experience with pharmaceutical supply and inventory management.

- They check prescriptions carefully, package both short-term and long-term medicines, and record all details correctly in our system.
- The Associate Pharmacist also helps track medicine supplies and makes sure that all medications are sent out on time and meet our quality standards.

- Read and check each prescription carefully before giving out any medicine.
- Make sure the medicine, dose, and instructions are correct for the patient.

- Follow all pharmacy laws, labeling rules, and safety procedures.

- Check for wrong or unsafe prescriptions and report any concerns right away.
- Handle medicines safely and store them properly to keep their quality.
Managing records and using pharmacy systems:
- Use the pharmacy’s computer system to record prescriptions and track medicines given out.
- Keep all patient and medication records updated and accurate.
- Make sure all data entered in the system is correct and easy to review later.
- Follow security rules when handling patient information in electronic records.
Managing stock and supplies:
- Help track the stock of medicines and supplies in the pharmacy.
- Report when medicines are running low or expired.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and arranging medicines on shelves.
- Work with senior pharmacists to avoid waste and keep enough stock available.
Supporting patients and promoting good health:
- Listen to patients’ questions and give simple, clear answers about their medicines.
- Support patients who have problems remembering to take their medicines.
- Share health tips and preventive care advice, like eating well or staying active.
- Encourage patients to come back for check-ups or refills when needed.
Managing time and accuracy:
- Make sure medicines are ready and sent out within the agreed turnaround time (TAT).
- Keep daily logs and reports accurate and up to date.
- Check all work carefully before completing any task.
- Follow timelines to help the pharmacy run smoothly and avoid delays.
Learning and improving:
- Read about new medicines and treatment guidelines to stay informed.
- Look up reliable medical information when unsure about a medicine or condition.
- Ask senior pharmacists for help when handling unfamiliar prescriptions.
- Join team discussions to share ideas on how to improve patient care and workflow.
Teamwork and communication
- Support and guide pharmacy technicians and interns when needed.
- Share best practices and help create a positive, safe work environment.
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff to give patients the best care.
Requirements
Required:
- B. Pharm Degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion or official exemption from NYSC
- 0 – 2 years clinical experience in clinic, hospital, community or retail setting.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to communicate medical concepts in clear layman language.
- Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools, especially word processing, outlook and excel.
Nice to Have:
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis and review.
- Expertise in counselling and educating patients for primary care conditions for children, adults and antenatal/postnatal.
- Expertise in counselling and educating patients for chronic illnesses including hypertension, diabetes and peptic ulcers.
- Experience working in teams including technicians.
- Research or data analysis experience managing large data sets using Excel, stata or other data software.
