    Steward

    Industry: Hospitality / Beach Resort
     Monthly Salary: ₦80,000
     Work Schedule: 6:00 AM start time, one day off per week
     Accommodation: Provided

    We are hiring a hardworking and reliable Steward to join our hospitality team at a luxury beach resort in Lekki. The Steward will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all kitchen, dining, and service areas.

    This position requires a diligent and detail-oriented professional who takes pride in cleanliness, teamwork, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will ensure that all utensils, kitchen equipment, and service areas meet the resort’s hygiene and operational standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Dishwashing and Sanitization

    • Wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, glassware, silverware, cooking utensils, and pots using commercial dishwashers or by hand.
    • Ensure all cleaned items are properly dried, polished, and stored in their designated areas.
    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dishwashing area at all times.

    Kitchen and Area Cleaning

    • Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, including counters, floors, sinks, and preparation areas.
    • Sweep and mop floors, ensuring the kitchen and surrounding areas are free from debris and spills.
    • Assist in cleaning and organizing bar, dining, and service areas before and after service.

    Equipment and Facility Maintenance

    • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, stovetops, fryers, and refrigerators.
    • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly to the supervisor or maintenance team.
    • Ensure all hallways, corridors, and storerooms remain tidy, safe, and clutter-free.

    Waste Management

    • Collect and dispose of kitchen waste, garbage, and recyclables in designated bins.
    • Follow proper waste segregation and disposal procedures according to safety and environmental guidelines.
    • Ensure trash areas are clean, disinfected, and organized at all times.

    Restocking and Inventory Support

    • Refill kitchen supplies such as cutlery, plates, cups, detergents, and cleaning materials.
    • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and notifying supervisors when restocking is needed.
    • Record storage area temperatures and ensure proper handling of food and beverage supplies.

    Team and Operational Support

    • Support chefs and cooks during food preparation, plating, and service when needed.
    • Assist wait staff and food service teams in setting up or clearing tables during busy periods or events.
    • Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with kitchen and front-of-house staff.

    Safety and Sanitation Compliance

    • Adhere to all hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards as established by the resort and public health authorities.
    • Follow proper handwashing and personal hygiene protocols at all times.
    • Wear appropriate uniforms and personal protective gear (gloves, aprons, etc.).
    • Participate in regular safety briefings or cleaning audits as required.

    Guest Service Support

    • Assist in setting up dining areas, buffets, or outdoor service areas for guest use.
    • Maintain professional behavior when interacting with guests or handling guest-related requests.
    • Contribute to ensuring a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all resort visitors.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Minimum of SSCE / WAEC certificate (OND or vocational training in hospitality is an added advantage).
    • 3 years of proven experience as a Steward, Kitchen Assistant, or Cleaner in a hotel, resort, or restaurant.
    • Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, and food hygiene practices.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
    • Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and move for extended periods.
    • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
    • Certification in Food Safety or Hygiene (added advantage).
