    Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Technical Advisor

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

    To ensure the integration of MHPSS activities within medical services provided to IDPs and host populations in MdM clinics and supported Ministry of Health PHCCs. This includes contributing to strategy development, implementation, quality assurance, capacity building, and reporting.

    Key Responsibilities 

    Program Development and Support 

    • Lead the MHPSS strategy design and implementation.
    • Support GBV survivor services.
    • Ensure quality and consistency of MHPSS activities.
    • Develop and update MHPSS standards, protocols, SOPs, and best practices.
    • Ensure program alignment with MdM and national strategies.
    • Monitor data collection and analysis.

    Strategic and Quality Assurance

    • Ensure program components align with population needs and propose adjustments.
    • Contribute to the strategic direction of mission health programs.
    • Contribute to the development of proposals
    • Support MdM FR advocacy strategies in line with global positioning and national policies.
    • Ensure effective context analysis and provide recommendations on adjustments to the project and strategy.

    HR & Capacity Building and Training

    • Supervise Mental Health Program and Officers.
    • Support MH Officers in supervising the mental health team (case managers, counselors).
    • Provide technical support to other departments (GBV, medical).
    • Participate in briefings, debriefings, and reviews.
    • Identify training needs and facilitate training for MHPSS staff and partners.
    • Support GBV program and the Officers
    • Design training curricula for outreach workers, clinic staff, and partners.

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting 

    • Provide consolidated monthly reports on MHPSS and GBV activities. 
    • Participate in proposal writing and donor reporting. 
    • Ensure data analysis and summaries (with MEAL). 
    • Collaborate with the MHPSS HQ Referent. 
    • Write field visit reports.

    Hierarchical and Functional links

    • Under the direct supervision of the Medical Coordinator, and technical link with HQ MHPSS referent.

    Background of the candidate.

    Skills required: 

    • Psychiatrist or Psychologist with an accomplished specialization degree. 
    • Master's degree in clinical psychology, Mental Health, or related field (advantage). 
    • Project Management training (advantage). 
    • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a similar position within the humanitarian sector, leading MHPSS programs and activities. 
    • Experience in MH GAP + PFA. 
    • Experience in designing community and facility-based MHPSS approaches. 
    • Ability to make effective decisions in volatile security contexts. 
    • Team management and multicultural work experience. 
    • Experience in integrating GBV/MHPSS co-activities.   
    • Ability to have a global program overview and long-term strategy perspective.

    Personal skills required:

    • Ability to make quick decisions in context. 
    • Strong listening and diplomacy skills. 
    • Team spirit and willingness to cooperate. 
    • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure. 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
