    Senior Officer, Partnerships & Resource Development

    The Senior Officer; Partnerships & Resource Development will support the Nigeria Country Director, in all resource development efforts and will be responsible for strategic leadership developing and nurturing funding partnerships (Government, Multi-lateral, Trusts & Foundations, private sector) to create pipelines to generate long term income. This position will assist with 

    • Driving a culture of strategic engagement by optimising the capacity of leadership at the country level to establish and deliver on strategic partnerships.
    • Landscape analysis and capture planning, 
    • Profile raising, influence and positioning
    • Scoping new opportunities and
    • identifying in-country partnerships with trusts and foundations, the private sector Government and Multi-lateral donors. 

    Key Peformance Areas:

    Drive the implementation of the country resource development plan to build partnerships and increase funding 

    • Develop an action plan for the country resource development  plan (funding, programs, policy, thematic, structure of engagement) for strengthening and developing partnerships, including diversification of funder base, with relevant donors, and key decision-makers in government and liaising with Resource Development colleagues to ensure relevance and alignment with global strategies and partnership engagement
    • Lead relationships with key in-country stakeholders and partners to identify and solicit partnership and funding opportunities, building
    • Create specific donor engagement plans, with support from Resource Development, and monitoring mechanisms to track progress
    • Work with country teams, PID, and Resource Development to develop appropriate partnership offers and concepts
    • Develop state-level partnership strategies aligned with domestic financing mechanisms (through the State Primary Health Care Development Agencies).

    Build m2m’s in-country profile and influence 

    • Actively engage in or ensure active engagement by other relevant country technical staff in networking events - including technical working groups (working closely with PID) and NGO forums and liaising with relevant colleagues to ensure m2m is well represented and events are appropriately utilised as donor and implementing partner engagement opportunities; 
    • Ideate and initiate m2m-led events, including involvement of key donors and partners, such as conferences and technical roundtables/ thought leadership events. 
    • Liaise with relevant staff at HO to ensure relevant learning is captured, externally disseminated and supports donor engagement and positioning for funding. 

     Partnerships Development and new business development 

    • Conduct regular horizon scanning of the donor and partner landscape to identify newly emerging players or those who are strengthening their presence in the country for the organisation to assess funding/partnership potential to further build pipelines. 
    • Drive the Capture process in-country and use country and regional level relationships and networks to gain intelligence on donor programmes Country Offices can position for
    • Identify and prioritize opportunities for new business relationships with trusts and foundations, the private sector, Government, and Multilateral donors
    • Develop and nurture networks to build and maintain a pipeline of prospects and build m2m’s profile and credibility.
    • Manage a portfolio of new and existing funders to support organizational growth and new ventures; 
    • Proactively research new public and private grant funding opportunities for programmatic and project priorities 
    • Assist in coordinating meetings and site visits with funders.
    • Develops content for factsheets designed to reach specific audiences.
    • Contributes to the ideation process for the development of program concepts
    • Supports department Directors and staff, field teams and technical consultants as necessary to capture key ideas and writes elements of partnership concept notes.
    • Writes key proposal sections including, but not limited to background statements, technical components, cross-cutting issues, management and staffing, and organizational capacity.
    • Act as a link between HO,  and country office providing on the ground intelligence and cohesion in a complicated and complex context. 
    • Gather, analyse and disseminate intelligence and guidance on donor programmes and donor trends in country, including for ‘emerging’ donors and funding mechanisms that m2m has less experience with

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • Ideally experience in HIV/AIDS, Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) and Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health (RMNCH);
    • Bachlelor’s Degree in social science field; International Relation, Development Studies, Public or Business Administration
    • Master’s Degree in relevant fields or professional certification in Project Management, Grants Management or Proposal Writing will be an added advantage.
    • A minimum of 6 years experience in resource development, with experience in engaging trusts and foundations, the private sector, Government and Multilateral donors. 
    • Proven experience and ability to collaborate with colleagues across countries, cultures, and time zones.
    • Strategic thinker with good understanding and interest in trends affecting development and partnerships.

    • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to translate organizational vision into concrete action;
    • Ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment – This position requires an independent, self- motivated, detail-oriented, service-oriented and analytical individual who can work with varying stakeholders
    • Demonstrated excellent writing ability;
    • Work flexibly, including changing work priorities at short notice and working unsociable hours when necessary to meet a short deadline
    • Demonstrated ability to think critically, strategically and analyze complex information and offer creative, practical and effective solutions
    • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills and an ability to conduct relationships with senior level managers, government officials and public health staff and the ability to write effectively for a variety of audiences, including internal, and present externally to multiple and diverse stakeholders.
    • Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and communicating both internally and externally in a timely and responsive manner.
    • Ability to manage diverse relationships, demonstrated skills in diversity and culturally sensitivity, and maintain a respectful demeanor in context of working within the international development sector.
