    School Accountant

    Job Description:

    The school accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial operations of the educational institution. They are responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the school, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
    • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the school's annual budget and financial forecasts. Monitor budgetary performance throughout the year and provide regular reports to management.
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and reimbursements in a timely manner. Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts as necessary.
    • Payroll Processing: Coordinate payroll processing for school employees, ensuring accurate calculation of salaries, deductions, and benefits. Prepare and distribute payroll reports as required.
    • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for school management and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Audit and Compliance: Assist with internal and external audits of the school's financial records. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
    • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Provide recommendations to management based on financial data and analysis.
    • Financial Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with school leadership to develop financial plans and strategies to support the institution's goals and objectives.
    • Vendor Management: Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiate contracts and pricing agreements, and ensure timely payment for goods and services.
    • Financial Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with best practices.

    • Accounting Knowledge: A strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures is essential. This includes knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controls.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
