    Plant Manager

    Company Description

    Our client is a fast-rising agribusiness conglomerate – formed out of the need to create quality local substitutes for imported rice products in Nigeria.

    They are a vertically integrated producer of high-quality whole grain parboiled rice and work directly with their farm estates and network of out-growers to ensure the finest, export-quality products for our local and international customers.

    Job Description

    • Drive the development and implementation of strategic and tactical plans for the rice mill plant in alignment with the overall objectives to ensure the achievement of exceptional business performance.
    • Develop and manage the plant’s operations, budget maintenance, plant inventory and safety measures that ensure the elimination of avoidable costs and maintenance of strong quality standards.
    • Manage and co-ordinate key functional areas, processes and activities in the rice mill to ensure optimization of business activities, superior performance and high production levels in a consistent manner.
    • Ensure optimal levels of the production cycle with a major focus on excellent plant uptime, good asset utilization, strong inventory control, superior asset maintenance, robust facilities control, excellent manpower utilization, clear work standards and exceptional plant administration.
    • Develop and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant operations, business processes, safety procedures, control measures, cost savings activities and business efficiency. 
    • Oversee the development and implementation of procurement initiatives that enhance the strategic vendor & contractors selection, coordination and management process that protects the company from avoidable downtime due to material, equipment or service shortage.
    • Oversee the establishment of quality control processes and ensure the adherence to control measures that promotes consistent production of good quality products with minimal wastages
    • Review and analyze production data and information to proactively identify production issues in a swift and efficient manner.
    • Drive world-class manufacturing capabilities and promote the adoption of best-in-class manufacturing practices to achieve optimal and superior production results.
    • Oversee the installation, efficient operation and maintenance of the rice milling plant ensuring that the manufacturing and production process delivers the desired order per cycle.
    • Ensure the implementation of processes that enhance manufacturing efficiency, production increase, asset optimization, resource allocation aptness and quality standard uprightness.
    • Lead the production, utility, quality assurance and procurement team through cost-effective production with low wastage and high-quality standards while ensuring alignment with the company’s financial objectives, growth and profitability goals.
    • Promote the implementation and adherence to health and safety measures that safeguard the workers, customers and property from the environment and safety hazards.

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s in Engineering, Business Administration or Higher National Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Degree or Lower Division, respectively.
    • A master’s degree would be an added advantage.
    • At least 15 years relevant experience in a Rice Milling Plant with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
    • Deep understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) principles and practices.
    • Adept in safety procedures for plant operations and activities.
